When credit it is due you need to man up and pay it. We hammer President Obama on a regular basis. We still do not think he is good president. We still think he is the wrong person for the job. What he agreed to do on Sunday night was the first time he rose to the occasion and was truly presidential. It takes a lot of guts to layout and agree to the mission pulled off on this most memorable of nights. That night that will go down in history as well as be the pinnacle of the Obama administration. When you think of Truman and dropping the atomic bomb, Kennedy and Cuba, Reagan and Gorbachev, and now you can add Obama and Bin Laden. It takes courage to send 40 men on that mission, into a friendly country without warning, into a situation where you do not know what to expect and hoping all your intelligence is right on. Then when it all comes together and the most notorious villain to the United States is trapped in a room with the red dot of a Navy Seal on his forehead, the order is shot to kill and take no prisoners. This is the biggest choice of this administration and it was a stand up decision and one we are glad he made. We give the President a hard time at every turn but we will also tell you today he was his most presidential giving the go order was tough and we give him praise for making the call.
The President Obama playbook is a joke t this point. When he does not get his way or no one is listening he reaction is to drown everyone in an all star team. So it no surprise when his immigration overhaul stalled, the play is to enlist an array of voices, including Latino entertainment and media stars, to help jump-start legislation. The timing is because we need votes the crucial Hispanic voters are needed. The problem is they may feel he abandoned his campaign pledge to change the law with an immigration overhaul. The Latino community cannot be happy with the record number of 393,000 deportations and an impasse on revamping immigration laws, as well as President Obama being no help in stopping the tough state immigration laws like the one that passed in Arizona. In comes the dream team but instead of winning the game the idea is be cheerleaders and tell their people the President cares and is working hard. These people included Piolin Sotelo, Eva Longoria, America Ferrera, Don Francisco and Jose Diaz-Balart. President Obama sent the marching order to blame congress as we think President Bush was going to be hard to pin this one on. Congress failure to pass legislation that would have provided a path to legal status for law-abiding young people brought to the United States as children who either plan to attend college or join the military. You start to wonder if the puppet master is smarter than the puppets or if the puppets are just a pawn in a kings game.
We love a good rock and hard place for the democrats and in the senate the you can feel the burn. Stage two is having President Obama and Senate Democrats staring each other down as the pending request to raise the federal debt limit appears on the horizon. President Obama is desperate to jump start the economy, cutting spending now could keep the economy right where it is or worse. The Senate democrats are scared to death to show voters they are still spending when everyone wants them to stop. We say this is stage two which is the call to raise the debt ceiling. Stage one was last year’s budget which we already got spending cuts in order to prevent a government shutdown. The third and final stage will be the knock down drag out fight over next year’s budget. It is almost a guarantee that come the end of September President Obama will be looking at more cuts and the hand of the Speaker of the House. The power play will come from the White House as the waters are deep and filled with sharks. President Obama will need to pick and choose what he brings to the table because everything is fair game. The shell game will be keeping some stuff back for the end of the year so he does not lose everything over the debt ceiling.
There must be an ulterior motive behind the Obama administration asking the Supreme Court to reinstate a policy that allows federal regulators to fine broadcasters for showing nudity and airing curse words when young children may be watching television. We know there is not a lot going on between fighting three wars, the deficit, the nations bond rating, and unemployment. So why would the administration want to focus on the review of appeals court rulings that threw out the Federal Communications Commission’s rules against the isolated use of expletives. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York threw out the FCC policy, saying it was unconstitutionally vague. This bigger issue her is what is the play and why is this on the radar. We get it this is silly and the FCC should have some control over their airwaves. We just wonder if this is President Obama’s first attempt to get some restrictions on right wing radio but it seems like a stretch. Maybe it is because he wants to accomplish something to add to his united we stand image. Let us not forget President Obama embarrassed this court in his State of Union and we think this is going to be a hard sell for them to come for his aid of give him any good will. He is the president and as a member of the three branches of government you would think this is where they must work together, but they do not have to.
A government that does not learn from their own mistakes is bound to repeat them. We saw this with giving guns to Al-Qieda to fight the Russians. This did not start with weapons but it did start with funding. It has now been announced that The Obama administration plans to give the Libyan opposition $25 million in non-lethal assistance. We have all wondered what the plan was, are we in, and are we out, who is in charge. This is the first direct U.S. aid to the rebels after weeks of assessing their capabilities. President Barack Obama informed Congress that intends to use his so-called draw down authority to give the opposition, led by the Transitional National Council in Benghazi, up to $25 million in surplus American goods to help protect civilians in rebel-held areas threatened by Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi’s forces. It will be interesting to see where the money goes and if it is used for intended purpose as $25 million is a lot of money in that area but it is not a lot of money for weaponry. This is starting to get a bad feeling that everyone kind of seen coming from the first air strikes and the no fly zone. The list is still being revised but now covers items such as medical supplies, uniforms, boots, tents, personal protective gear, radios and Halal meals. This was stated that it is not a blank check and most of the items are on hand at the Pentagon as surplus. This would not be the first we heard of medical supplies traded on black market for weapons or cash.
Filed under never miss a good photo opp and if you can parley a couple of things together it is a double bonus. This is going to happen next week as our President makes his way around the country and stops down in the Southeast. This stop is in Florida as the first family will take in the next-to last flight on April 29 of the space shuttle Endeavor. President Barack Obama will be taking along his wife, Michelle, and daughters Malia and Sasha. We have to think there is a campaign dinner and $10k plate chicken dinner fund raiser somewhere in here as well. This stop does seem odd when you think that the President wants NASA to teach science to Muslims instead sending rockets into space. This is not the reason he is going as we believe it is because he is making an appearance so he does not have to be at the last one or avoid the issue all together. The reason he is going to be in Florida is he is scheduled to give the commencement address at Miami Dade College. There is also another opportunity here are this shuttle mission is going to be led by Mark Kelly, the husband of Arizona congresswoman Democrat Gabrielle Giffords who was critically wounded during a shooting in Tucson in January.
We knew that when President Obama ran around acting like he did something passing the budget. Then jumped out to say he was running for a second term, which sounded exactly the same as he has for the last two years there was going to be awareness. We did not expect to see it in the latest Gallup Daily tracking three-day average. The numbers do not lie and Gallup shows 41% of Americans approving of the job Barack Obama is doing as president. We thought 41% was a high number and kind of odd. It turns out that 41% ties his low as president, which he registered three times before, twice in August 2010 and once in October 2010. The best part is these numbers are from April 12-14, which means it was before the crazy speech for deficit reduction. The economy is the big reason and it probably has more to do with the prices at the gas pump. We are not counting out unemployment but the whole economic recovery is taking too long. President Obama has had an approval rating with Gallup that has averaged 48% so far in 2011. When you look inside the numbers the biggest segment he is losing is the Independents the same people that brought him to where he is now. This last polled showed that only 35% of independents approve of the president, which is down from 44% which he has averaged for 2011. The news is not good for the home team either as with Democrats ratings are down four points as well. This is all good news for what we hope is mister one and done President.
Well Monday looks like a day of double speak as President Obama is set to address the nation and a Congress with some kind of answers. This will be President Barack Obama most expansive explanation of the U.S. role in the Libyan war. This means the president will deliver a speech that is expected to cover the path ahead and his rationale about the appropriate use of force. The location is going to be from the National Defense University in Washington. This comes as many in the nation have pressed him for clarity about the goals and exit strategy of the United States. President Obama is expected to explain how the U.S.-led campaign is shifting to NATO control, and how the multinational approach with Arab support puts the United States in the strongest position to achieve the goals of protecting Libyan civilians. We think it is just a war for oil. You know when you get one of these hawkish presidents in office one war is never enough how about three. We are waiting for the national media to create lawsuits to watch and photograph soldiers bodies get off planes at Dullas. It seems tongue and cheek but this was in play when President Bush was in office, the lame streamers thought we would forget.
