Happy Tea512 Day

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

There is twice a year when the tea512 celebrates the day. Those days are May 12 which is 512 and December 5 which is 125. These depends on where you are standing on the globe as in England 512 is today but in the US today 125. This is where the 512 in the tea512 comes from; we will never say but works for us. Looking back from the last 512 in May, we have been pretty happy with content displayed here. We are thankful to our Twitter followers who engage the conversation. We will stand here and fight the good fight for conservative fundamental freedoms our forefathers laid out for this country to stand on. We support the constitution and in its form not as moving document. We believe in God, Country, and Democracy. We never support our friends on the other side of the aisle, but respect their opinion and what they are willing to fight for. This give and take, exchange of ideas, right or wrong is what makes democracy the greatest government of all. We will stand here as Tea512 and report on what we see as a public record swayed by our opinion and shouting it out to the world one post at a time. Happy Tea512 day.

Sotomayor was wrong rules Supreme Court

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that white firefighters in New Haven, Connecticut were unfairly denied promotions because of their race. New Haven was wrong to scrap a promotion exam because no African-Americans and only two Hispanic firefighters were likely to be made lieutenants or captains based on the results, the court said Monday in a 5-4 decision. The city said that it had acted to avoid a lawsuit from minorities. In Monday’s ruling, Justice Anthony Kennedy said, “Fear of litigation alone cannot justify an employer’s reliance on race to the detriment of individuals who passed the examinations and qualified for promotions.” He was joined in the majority by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Alito, Scalia and Thomas. This is important at this time because this is reversing a decision that high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge. This is really the only judgment that is flawed in her justice career and it is fresh ammunition. The court said it will return September 9 with Justice David Souter retiring there would be only eight justices unless Sotomayor has been confirmed by then. This was a good move by the court not giving Sonia Sotomayor the awkward position of ruling on this motion twice. The bad news for New Haven based on her track record the decision might have went the other way 5-4.

When Celebs Tweet

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

The more we follow celebrities on Twitter the more we ask ourselves why we even like that person. Do not get us wrong it is not about the content but much more multisided than that. It can be things like, what they think is funny, what they think we should know, the image they are trying to project, or where their moral compass is set to. We know you probably want a few examples so how about Mandy Moore and the crocadoodle obsession or Mia Tyler and her need to tell everyone her twitterscope. We know there is no need to follow these people and then we would not have to read tweets from Tila Tequila as she rambles on every night about something controversial. Tila the reason you are limited to 140 characters is so you keep it short, seriously when you smash out four tweets to tell a story it is not microblogging. Then there are those who think the world should be a beautiful place and want only positive responses to their diatribe, this includes, Kristy Alley, Kathy Ireland, and Marlee Matlin. You always have this thought that if you meet a certain famous person you would love to ask them ___? It seems that when you see what some of these people are about you might not even want to meet them.

Flying Sucks these days

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Since we have not flown or gone a vacation in nine years a lot has changed. If you travel often or for a living you know what we are talking about. There are things we do not mind and of course understand. These new regulations are not a good enough to keep up the war on terror. We do not mind having to be at the airport two hours before the flight, this means we will not be late and there are no last minute passengers, oh wait a second of there is one who needs to change seat, board first, and bring two bags on the plane. Sorry we digress and that is totally a post for another day. Why do we need to arrive at the airport two hours early so the TSA can pretend they are keeping us safe? The 911 hijackers used box cutters, granted getting any metal on your person through is tough but we are sure a sharp plastic tool could achieve the same result. The reason for this rant is the shoes; this was disgusting on multiple levels. Starting with standing in line with a bunch of people with no shoes like it was a sock hop. Worse standing with a bunch of other people with no socks like it was a beach party. Lastly and by far the worse was the smell, it is hard to place but it came back quickly like a junior high locker room. Is this the way every airport smells? There has got to better a way to check the shoes. The last thing we need to start a vacation is an old lady wiping out the bunions or a dude exposing the Fred Flintstone feet, this now way to begin to relax. Thanks TSA we are supposed to be relaxing.

Happy 512 from Tea512

Today is a kind of a holiday for us, a backwards one if you no us that makes sense to you. It could not be backwards if we were in England, but we are not. We are going on vacation and heading south to the land of the Mouse. That is right we hit the three pointer at the buzzer, lifted the puck top shelf in overtime, completed the Hail Mary for a touchdown and hit a walk off homer in the bottom of the ninth. We are going to Disneyland. We are not sure how much work will be done on this trip. The blog posts may slow unless President Obama gives us material we just cannot pass up. We will keep Tweeting as that we can do on the run. Everybody enjoy yourself as we certainly will it has been years since our last vacation and why not spend it at the happiest place on earth.

Happy Easter to all

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

We want to wish everyone a Happy Easter as we returned from a packed house mass this morning. Newsweek and Bill Maher spend there time trying to tell you religion is died. We watch Tom Cruise and Madonna manufacture a religion and tell us it is the way. Today we saw how religion works and how important it is in people lives. We understand most of these people only go to church on Easter and Christmas, but when Bill Maher is holding out for his last breathe, or asking another minute for someone he loves to stay alive, we wonder if that is when he will understand religion and what it means for your every day existence. Well that is enough about people who do not get it, to all of those who do, Happy Easter and welcome to the true beginning of spring and eternal blooming.

Yet another Super Bowl XLIII (43) Prediction

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Tomorrow is Super Bowl XLIII (43) and we will give our yearly prediction. Based on past years if this is the team you have in office pool or leading at the end of your squares you are probably going to lose. We have learned a long time ago that gambling was not something we were very lucky doing. We can remember a time at a junket in Las Vegas after a horrible time at the Black Jack table and older gentlemen said “The odds are against you, see these big building we are in, how do you think they built them?” That sage advice has stayed with me ever since. We would love to tell we know something or have some brilliant insight. Things like the speed of Larry Fitzgerald is going to make the Steelers secondary be exposed for other receivers. The running game of the Steelers will beat down the Cardinals and by the fourth quarter they will be unable to stop them. The Special teams of the Steelers will keep the field position in their favor making shorter drives for more points. Lastly the high powered Cardinals offense will jump out to a 14 point lead (like against the Panthers), which will make the Steelers, try to play catch up all day. So for our prediction will throw our support behind the Pittsburgh Steelers as they are the tougher team and that usually fairs well against a finesse team.

Planetary warming trends - I can see the future

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

So when we woke up this morning and the world is about to end. According to a simulation of planetary warming trends, failure to drastically cut greenhouse gas pollution within the next half century could choke Earth’s oceans for the next 100,000 years. Can you believe it the next 100,000 years? Here is the plan to save the earth as we just move relatively rapidly towards a carbon-neutral global economy, with greenhouse emissions peaking by 2050. This would result in circa-2100 temperatures about 6 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than now. Though terrestrially dramatic, such a rise would produce long-term ocean warming peaking in several thousand years at about 2 degrees Fahrenheit. Such a rise would fall well within the range of ocean adaptation. Anytime these global warming tree hugging people get up on the soapbox, they sound so doom and gloom about things that are hundreds if not thousands of years away. The problem we have with any of this is if you cannot tell me when it going to rain or snow. If you tell me it will snow and the accumulation will be five inches and we only get one or this in reverse. How many times have you been told it was going to be a beautiful day and have been caught in the rain? The problem how can you say what is going to happen this far into the future when you can not even predict with any accuracy what is going to happen in the next 24 hours. We understand when we make this argument tree huggers say the climate for weather is always changing. This excuse by its very nature is the reason these doom and gloom philosophy are just to improbable to believe.

Massachusetts Cigarette Tax

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

This is local story but everyone must feel it. Well that is everyone that smokes. We do not smoke or want to attempt to glorify the habit. This story is about waiting in a store for milk. The local grocery was closed as it was after 10pm. The little ones needed milk for breakfast, so off I go into the night. When you go into the convenience store, you expect to wait behind lottery ticket buyers. In Massachusetts, the only legal gambling is where the state can make 100% of the profit. On this night, there was only one customer ahead of me and she asked for a pack of cigarettes. The cost was $6.30, which she said, was cheaper then she thought it would be. We could not believe what we heard so we researched a little, the tax on smokes in Massachusetts after Governor Deval Patrick signed into law a bill that increases the tax to $2.51 on July 4, 2008. Quick math revealed that this person just paid 31 and half cent per butt. There is nothing like taxing the people with the littlest amount of income to pay. Could they not have come up with a $5.00 tax for caviar? How about $2.00 a gallon boat gas tax? They may force more people to quit smoking but it is shame the state can tax the citizens to death without any regard of class bias.

You can now click to a list of the Computer, software & internet posts, these will keep you up to date with current state of affairs off all things PC. Cool Web Deals category has the posts about websites we have reviewed or have found as offering something special. The Economy Post has to deal with topics like oil, banks, jobs, and all thing currency. The entertainment posts are about Hollywood and include music, movies and TV. The healthcare section deals with posts for products that are going to help your wellness in body and mind. Odd News is the stories that are just off the wall and hard to believe. Personal Rants are just that and can be about anything but they do not fall under a particular category. Politics are the bread and butter of the site and why we do what we do. These post lean to the right but will call a spade a spade on both sides. The last section is the most people based on clicks the Women of the Week is a super hot sexy girl and what she has done to get there. We also try to say what she has that is new and not out yet. Goodbye 2008

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

We cannot wait for this year to be over the only good thing was Guns N roses released Chinese Democracy, The Black Crowes resurfaced with new music, a rocker won American Idol, Terminator returned for another season. Politics wise it was horrible the White House continued a downward spiral, democrats won a Presidential Election, and bailout, bailout, bailout. The financial markets had a bad year, as did AIG, Lehman Brothers, and Stearns. Oil price went as high as $157 a barrel and then fell to around $40. Gas prices fell to the lowest prices in five years. We are saying goodbye to 2008 as the Dallas Cowboys lost a playoff game to start the year and finished out of the playoff to end it. The Celtics won their 17 world championship and the Red Sox were a game away from another world series. Overall it was another year in the books and as always we have high hopes for 2009 we hope this bring new things to our readers and the best of health, happiness and luck for the New Year to all.

Big Changes Ahead for the Tea512

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

We have some changes coming to Tea512. We will be launched three new sights for the beginning of the year. These are about bill paying, rip offs, and how to fix things. We also be adding categories to the Tea512 site and losing some of the links that produce nothing along the side bar. We hope to have all four sites completed and updated for the New Year. We will highlight on another as some of the needs of these sites will coexist. We thank you for your continued support and hope you find these other sites helpful. We are trying to split up some of the posting to more generalize what goes with what. Tea512 will always be the mother ship and a launching point for the other sites. We will keep you updated to the progress and hope to make all sites more interactive in 2009. We would like to start adding a question of the day, discount offers, and free giveaways, all of which has been on a drawing board over the last six months. The implementation will start shortly so stay tuned for the changes. 2009 in this space you will find a women of the week every Monday, American Idol weekly rant, and the other things we have been doing since we started. Get ready for New Year as 2009 as we hope it is going to busy, fun and productive for all.

The Never Ending Christmas

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

We do not know if it is because of the day it fell on, or the fact we have over programmed ourselves into too much. This year Christmas fell on a Thursday. This was great for retail as they invented another shopping day for the day after the holiday. This day used to be reserved for people making returns, using gift cards, or just getting that gift you wanted that nobody bought you. We noticed over the last couple of years the trend of having holiday parties after the first of the year as with all there is to do it is one less thing to worry about as Christmas approaches. This year it feels like the never endings Christmas in our family we having or had parties on the December 13, 25, 28 and another we cannot even schedule because the parties cannot get a date on the same day. This one looks like it will be on January 10 or 17. There is something very corporate about exchanging gifts after the holiday. We will have to play it out to see if our feeling is correct. This will happen again next as Christmas will fall on a Friday next year. There is a lot to be said for not needing to get all done in one day, but we feel that maybe a one day approach is better than pretending a party in the middle of January is anything like Christmas.

Christmas Eve 2008

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Well there is nothing that can be done. You have shopped until the last minute. There are no more places to go. The selection on the last day is poor, the stores are crowded and the traffic is obnoxious. The best part is the end when nothing else can be done. You always think you could have done more, you always wish there things you picked up when you saw them, and you promise you will start earlier next year. The best news is it is over, there nothing more that can be done except to sit back and enjoy the day. There is a peaceful calm to the world on Christmas morning. We are not sure if it that running around and endless things to do are over or if there is something to the peace and goodwill toward man. Whatever the reason we hope all have a happy and healthy Christmas Eve and day. We hope Santa fills your stocking with loot, we hope for all the readers a joyous and festive Christmas.

Back in Business

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Power has been restored and all is back to normal. The funny thing about having no power is how you need it to find out about updates. The electric company had called my home several times to update the situation. This is great except with digital phone service there was no power to receive the call. They set up a great website called storm central telling you about the homes in your area without power and an estimate of return to service. If you have no power, you have very little chance of reading a web page. The customer service calls were closed and handed of to an auto attendant. This you could call form anywhere and was very accurate and updated often. So we find once again just the same as during 9/11 the cell phone is the most powerful gadget you own. This is providing you have a way to keep it charged. The cell phone towers never went out service, which they did during Katrina so that is the only example we can remember when even a cell phone was of no use. So we look forward to picking up and moving their stacks of paper piled high on all desks as the to do list from before Friday has had many items taken of and of course we have done nothing to take any off. We could not do anything by candlelight and wondered how Benjamin Franklin accomplished so much this way. Well onward and upward, as the holiday season is fast approaching and we are all a weekend behind.

Power is still out day 4

Monday, December 15th, 2008

So we have now been without power for over 98 hours we are living out of suitcases. The staff is staying a hotels or relative near by. This is crazy there are some streets with power others are not. The timing is horrible as people are complaining about last minute shopping and not being home for three days. You here stories of how people coup without heat, some have generators, some have gas stoves, one person said he uses his gas grill propane tank. The biggest thing we notice as we are in the library again, about 10 miles south from the outage area. Is how connected and plugged into the grid we are, cell phones need charging, laptop batteries run down, ipod loses life. We have spent most of the time searching for ways to charge things we cannot use at the office. My best friend has been the itouch as it holds a charge a long time. It finds wi-fi spots for my laptop so it does not need to be turned on until one is available. Music can get you through anything and having a new Guns N Roses CD could not have come at a better time. The cell phone has a car charger so we can run out to the car crank the heat, charge the phone get the update. Last night they were over 100,000 homes without power in the area the last report is we will have power by 8pm tonight. No one is holding their breath though.

Why is it called Tea512? 1/2 answer

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Today is December 5, regular readers now that this spot came alive on December 5 and has been reversed for the moniker Tea512. There are many important things about December 5, in 1933, National Prohibition ended, which is the most important. There are other things which include London auctioneers Christie’s hold their 1st sale(1766), Phi Beta Kappa was organized (1776), Both Washington, Jefferson, Jackson re-elected (1792,1804,1832), Gold Rush of 1848 confirming that gold had been discovered in California, First electric car (1893), First US nudist organization (1929), Merger between AFO-CIO (1955), Newt Gingrich named speaker of the House (1994). People that were born on this day include Walt Disney, Pope Julius II, Little Richard, Morgan J. Freeman, Jim Plunkett, and Calvin Trillin. Therefore, if you ever wondered where the name tea12 came from a hint is that is based on this day, written as the English would write a date. That is the only clue, as we will enlighten you at another time on why the rest of the name is what it is. Enjoy your December 5 as we at the office will and thanks to 12/5/1933, the drinking light is now on. Cheers.

Hang some Bells on that Prius

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

We work in the city and the only way to get around is foot traffic. This city is full of little alleys and hidden spots. So when you leave the building for lunch, run an errand, or getting to the transit system there is a new obstacle. Crossing against the traffic has always been hard, nobody lets you go and they will come inches away from you if you get in their way. There is a new problem a foot the quiet electric hybrid prius. In just the last three weeks, we have had four incidents reported of these tree-hugging folks pulling out of somewhere and almost striking a pedestrian because the pedestrian could not hear them coming. The city is loud and there is always a lot going on, but these cars are so quiet they have become a danger. So if you are one of these save the whale, do not eat meat, tree hugging Prius owners we would ask that you hang some bells on your car. This way we can hear you coming, it does not have to be a cowbell, or a jingle bell, but something so your battery operated car does not kill one of us. Thanks.

Black Friday

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Well today is the day the stores open before most people open their eyes. The onslaught of commercials about the time you can start you shopping seems to indicate 5am is the international starting time. Kohl’s a local department store was going to open at 4am. This exercise has begun a while a go and seems to be a lasting tradition. The economy and consumer spending has trended down since September so retailers are holding their breathe it will be shopping as usual. The proof will be if people decide their holiday spending should be cut from last years totals. Some believe that if you spent $2000 last year there is good chance you only spend $1500 to $1750. We believe that everyone will try to cut in places but not in the holiday gift buying. There maybe less of a gift for the mailman, doorman, and parking lot attendant. There maybe less money spent on gifts that are for not immediate family members. We believe that when it comes to giving there will be less skimping done then economists believe. The holiday season will be different for the 240,000 people that lost their jobs last month and they will cut back the most. Retailers are ramping up by deeping discounts on already owned store inventory before over purchasing more, only time will tell but the official start has begun and soon the numbers will tell all.
