President Barack Obama is going to use executive order if he does not get his way in congress. The executive order will be used to indefinitely imprison a small number of Guantanamo Bay detainees considered too dangerous to prosecute or release. They have said if issued it would not take effect until after the October first to coincide start of the upcoming 2010 fiscal year. Congress has blocked the administration from spending any money this year to imprison the detainees in the United States. The administration has pledged to close the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba by January 21. This is the administration basically admitting that there are not really a lot of options for moving the prisoners to other countries. If he cannot get congress to play ball an executive order is the only route President Obama has to get the needed authority. There are 229 detainees currently being held at Guantanamo. If you are keeping count eleven are expected to be tried in military tribunals, Ahmed Ghailani, has been transferred to United States for prosecution by a civilian federal courts in Manhattan. Four Chinese Muslims (Uighurs) were transferred to Bermuda. The Obama administration is trying to relocate as many as 100 Yemeni detainees to Saudi Arabia for rehabilitation.

The Supreme Court decided today in the case of Redding v Safford Middle School. The strip search performed at the Safford, Arizona school of a Savana Redding accused of having prescription-strength ibuprofen was in fact illegal. We had first posted about this story back in March and there are more details in that post. Today the Supreme Court ruled on that school officials Assistant principal Kerry Wilson, Peggy Schwallier, the school nurse, and Helen Romero, a secretary violated the law with their strip search of the 13-year-old Safford Middle School. They ordered her to remove her clothes and shake out her underwear because they were looking for prescription strength ibuprofen pills she had brought to school. The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in San Francisco, also ruled that school officials had violated the Fourth Amendment’s ban on unreasonable searches.

The lame stream media is up an arm over the audacity of Fox News reporter Major Garrett who asked President Barack Obama a tough question, in a snide way. The President himself seemed uncurled as the question was asked. The problem is nobody asks the President a tough question like this. He did not know how to respond, he never is called out so he must have felt hurt. There is a couple of points to make, this the Obama need to be a celebrity and have everyone like him. This is the reason he blasts Fox News for calling him out all day. He does not understand why they do not like him. The Obama machine must have sent out the bat signal to trounce Major Garrett for the remark, are these same news hounds who lashed out a President bush over Weapons of Mass Destruction, Katrina and the Iraqi that threw the shoes. The problem is these reporters are so lock in step with the white house they cannot see the tough question and they do not dare ask it. We applaud Major Garrett and his question, reporters first job is to ask the tough question and there is no way to ask it without the appearance of being smug.

President Barack Obama is creating a White House council to handle issues that affect American communities and workers tied to the automotive industry. President Obama will sign an executive order Tuesday to establish the White House Council on Automotive Communities and Workers. The council will be chaired by the president’s economic adviser, Larry Summers, and his labor secretary, Hilda Solis. The executive director will be Obama’s director of recovery for auto communities and workers, Ed Montgomery. Vice President Joe Biden is traveling to Perrysburg, Ohio, to announce the committee’s creation. This might be paving the way for intangible industries tied to automobile plants to step up to the bailout line. We have already seen the auto parts industry ask for help and with Detroit unemployment at 14%, there will be more job loss for the jobs that supported the autoworkers. There has been the loss of more than 400,000 jobs in the last decade in the auto industry. It is only natural if you close a plant with 25k workers, the restaurants and stores in the area will all take a hit. It is just like this administration to create a council and not include members of the auto workers union, auto workers family, civic leaders. The council is full of people who all live and work in Washington so how they keep the pulse of this situation is a little unclear. It sure will sound good at the press conference though.
Let us hope Larry can stay awake as chairperson

It was only last week that we thought President Barack Obama was moving out of the spotlight. The joke is on us as tomorrow President Obama will meet the press to push a key pillar of his domestic agenda and faces criticism for the way he is handling the tumult in Iran. The president has scheduled a press conference for 12:30 p.m. Eastern at the White House. If you are keeping track it is the fourth of his presidency, at least this one is not prime-time and his first in the Rose Garden. When there is short notice it suggests the administration is feeling pressured to address the developments in Washington and abroad. Things that are on the table are comprehensive health care reform, turmoil in Iran, and polls showing that President Obama approval ratings slipping. This is the fourth press conference in just over six months; the President will also be on National television Wednesday night on an ABC special. This is not happening because he is the start of the party or the media is making him a hero. This is happening because the job has gotten tough and with North Korea pushing the young President more times in six months then President Bush over eight years it is time to become Presidential.
This week we are highlighting last years number 48 Gwen Renée Stefani. Gwen was born October 3, 1969 in Fullerton, California. Gwen Stefani made her onstage debut during a talent show at Loara High School. She graduated in 1987 and attending Cypress College before transferring to California State University, Fullerton. Her break came in 1986 when she was invited her to provide vocals for No Doubt, in 1991, the band was signed to Interscope Records. She is also a fashion designer and trendsetter, solo artist. We have always been a big fan and she and No Doubt are tearing up the country as they prepare to release another studio album. Gwen is in outstanding shape and looks great after two kids, two solo albums, and reuniting with No Doubt something, she has been part of professionally for eighteen years. She is still full of the same energy, banging midriff, and the hottest belly button in music. Her long blonde hair and even longer legs make her forever a smoking hot siren and hard to take your eyes off when she is in the room.

Senator Edward Kennedy is making the best of the time he has left and helping an old friend, Senator Christopher Dodd from Connecticut. Baby Kennedy has a new TV campaign for longtime pal Sen. Christopher Dodd, who faces a tough re-election fight in Connecticut. The Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd is called a strong partner in the fight for health care reform by the Massachusetts Democrat. The 30-second ad in which Kennedy makes the pitch to the Connecticut voters that Chris Dodd has been my closest ally in this fight. Dodd is facing the toughest re-election fight of his five-term Senate career in 2010. He has lost a lot of steam during this last term as his popularity has slipped in the financial meltdown and after his failed 2008 presidential bid. He has taken a couple of nationwide bad press articles first for his role in writing a bill that protected bonuses for executives at bailed-out AIG. Then he refused to release documents about his two controversial mortgages with Countrywide and his financing of a vacation cottage in Ireland. There has also been negative press about his wife’s role in being on the Board of Directors of a couple of companies who have been at the government trough. The lasted polls show Dodd trailing former Republican Rob Simmons 45-39 percent. If he can get that far as he is also facing a primary challenge from Merrick Alpert, this makes Dodd is one of the most vulnerable Senate Democrats facing re-election next year.
The Tea512 gang had our first summer outing and want to than all that attended. We went to the No Doubt and Paramore Show at the outdoor arena in town. The show was kick ass and the rain held out for the most part. We have always been huge fans of No Doubt and had never seen them before. We were surprised at how great Paramore are as a complete band. We knew that had some good songs, when knew they were going to rock. We were not ready for how good on vocals Hayley Williams is as she can hold her own with anyone. They were very impressive and have loyal fans. No Doubt was slick performing on an all white stage dressed in all white as the band poured through songs from their catalog. We do not know the exact number but we think they played seven songs from Tragic Kingdom in all. The standout songs were Simple Kind of Life, Don’t Speak, and Hey Baby as a good time was had by all. Check out the YouTuber who posted a video of the show of Simple Kind of Life.
Not only did U.S. Representative Barney Frank keep the Fannie Mae Freddie Mac scam alive. We found out now he is the top frequent-flying Washington, D.C., lawmakers. This of course is trips to special-interest-funded junkets. The Democrat from Massachusetts Barney Frank has been in Congress since 1981. He is the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee. He has flown 92 times since 2000, these trips cost taxpayers a total of $112,000. There was supposed to be a congressional crackdown on these special interest trips. Representative Barney Frank regularly travels to New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and other cities for conferences, frequently paid for by gay and lesbian groups. He also travels annually to Hollywood to appear on the HBO show “Real Time with Bill Maher.” Last year, his two-day trip cost $1,998, which was paid by the show. This year’s trip, which occurred in May, cost $3,129, records show. Members of Congress can accept free travel with approval from ethics officials, but trips with lobbyists are banned. Representative Barney Frank is only tied for the most trips with the late Representative Stephanie Tubbs Jones. So watch out next year we can see without any competition Barney is going to win the gold medal for being the congress frequent flyer miles.
