Do you remember when she said let us pass the bill and read it later. We all thought she was crazy and worse when it passed meaning that was the new norm. So when we see the white house getting hammered by Republicans and the Catholic Church it becomes we saw it coming and we could not do anything about it. What is the fascinating twist is that the White House seems to be hinting at a compromise. This is not a surprise as they are struggling to calm an election-year uproar caused by its rule requiring religious schools and hospitals to provide employees with access to free birth control. The idea that we will not know what is in the bill in whole until 2014 means there is no way to stop it if President Obama is reelected. The Roman Catholics understand that a birth control mandate would force them to violate their religious beliefs against contraception. We have seen this before but it was long ago when a government tried to tell religion what to do, but did you ever think it would happen today. Welcome to the President Obama administration and exactly what this space has been trying to say for four years.
