We knew it was not going to be long after the Republican romp of the last election the action was at hand. There are a significant number of Republican National Committee members that want embattled chairman Michael Steele to step down. The next piece of the puzzle will be the names floated as potential replacements. We think it is crucial for the 168-member central committee remove the badly damaged Steele as it challenges President Barack Obama in 2012. You hope the message gets through and he steps down but based on Pelosi reaction to the lambasting her party took, these people just never get it. The balloting is around two months away and we want Steele to go. The early competition Michigan committeeman Saul Anuzis, Former RNC strategist Gentry Collins, Missouri chairwoman Ann Wagner and former Bush administration official Maria Cino. There is also a group of committee members counting on Wisconsin GOP chairman and RNC lawyer Reince Priebus. The GOP needs to build on momentum they have gained and built from the depths of 2008, this is not the time to leave any cracks exposed, they need to be filled and made solid to capture the White House in 2012 the ultimate goal or any chairman of the Republican National Committee.
