Stimulus is working

We know the stimulus is finally working and we have proof. The democrats can rejoice as Delta Air Lines is hiring 1,000 new flight attendants. The problem is that the economy is so in the tank that more than 100,000 people have applied. The thing this story which we write tongue and check that this means the stimulus was a success in case you did not pick that up. We do hope they understand that people are looking for real jobs which this President refuses to create. So when out of work her there is an opening at a real company, with a decent job, the application receiving servers cannot take it. There is something sexy to getting all that free travel and seeing the world; Europe, South America, and Asia. The reason U.S. airlines have finally returned to profitability, in part by cutting flights. Some of those flights are returning now but more importantly Delta is making an aggressive push into new, more-lucrative international routes. And that’s really where most of these 1,000 new flight attendant jobs come in. We wish luck to the 1% of the applicants that are actually picked to fly the skies on these international flights. To bad there are not more shovel ready airlines.

Steele needs to go

We knew it was not going to be long after the Republican romp of the last election the action was at hand. There are a significant number of Republican National Committee members that want embattled chairman Michael Steele to step down. The next piece of the puzzle will be the names floated as potential replacements. We think it is crucial for the 168-member central committee remove the badly damaged Steele as it challenges President Barack Obama in 2012. You hope the message gets through and he steps down but based on Pelosi reaction to the lambasting her party took, these people just never get it. The balloting is around two months away and we want Steele to go. The early competition Michigan committeeman Saul Anuzis, Former RNC strategist Gentry Collins, Missouri chairwoman Ann Wagner and former Bush administration official Maria Cino. There is also a group of committee members counting on Wisconsin GOP chairman and RNC lawyer Reince Priebus. The GOP needs to build on momentum they have gained and built from the depths of 2008, this is not the time to leave any cracks exposed, they need to be filled and made solid to capture the White House in 2012 the ultimate goal or any chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Slydial straight to VM

Tea512 came across a service that is sweet as it is sneaky. Slydial is a free service helping you get to voicemail without worry that the person will pick up the phone. That is right, you call another person on the cell phone, straight to voicemail, without ringing the phone. All you do is call (267) SLY-DIAL from any phone, then the phone number you are trying not to get, they play a tiny advertisement, and the Slydial call goes straight to VM. The user can pay a fee if they would not like to hear the ads. Then the person you Slydialed is notified they have a VM, they may even get a missed call, depending on their provider. Slydial says they have over 5,000 users, the project was developed from the need to cut International phone costs, this way calls are picked up as VM and not lengthy live communications at International rates. It may have a business use, but when you are running late, or blowing someone off how cool it is to leave a message on the Slydial, getting yourself out of a prickly situation. This may not work to CYA in the flesh, but it is easier to lie in a VM then to a human, especially since VM cannot talk back.

President Obama endangered

It is Saturday so we could not resist when it came across the wire that Environmental groups are criticizing the President Obama for what they say is a continuing backlog of plants and animals in need of protection under the Endangered Species Act. We kind of hope the political life of President Obama as president is endangered. The real story is the Fish and Wildlife Service says 251 species are candidates for endangered species protection. The president is taking it on the lip pun intended as the environmental groups say that the Obama administration has done little to improve on what they consider a dismal record on endangered species under President George W. Bush. The numbers are after two years in office, the President Obama administration has only used the Endangered Species Act to protect 51 plants and animals, a below standard average of 25 a year. The problem is these tree hugging hippies messiah was the Clinton administration that protected an average of 65 species per year. They feel there is a lot to catch up for as the Bush administration averaged only around eight a year. It is funny how this hope and change guy can never catch a break. We say that because his problem has not been as much with the GOP but people from his side.

Beyonce still the one

This week we are highlighting last years number one on the tea512 Beyoncé Giselle Knowles. She was born September 4th 1981 in Houston, Texas. Beyonce finished number two in 2008 and has had a pretty quiet year. She came across the radar when she release the I am Fierce DVD and had a Thanksgiving night special. This year has been about marriage and getting into her new life as wife. We are sure new music is on the horizon as well as acting and product endorsements. She was part of the best-selling girl group of all time Destiny’s Child for whom she recorded four smash albums. In 2003 she released her first solo album Dangerously in Love which received five Grammy nominations. Her second solo album B’Day was released in 2006 in total she has sold over 20 million sales in albums. She has been part of four major movie releases including Dreamgirls which she earned a golden Globe nomination. We do not think based on the year she has had she will hold on to the top spot but she will not fall far. Tea512 has always recognized Beyoncé for her triple threat talent and as one of the most beautiful women in the world.

Metal Roofing fully Energy Star

If you are looking for metal roof panels we want to let you know about a leader in metal roofing. If you are looking for several styles of small metal roof panels that incorporate a four-way interlocking design you need to look no further. This interlocking feature adds substantial strength and eliminates the typical expansion and contraction problems found with long metal panels. Another great feature of this system is that these panels have a built-in hidden fastener system, which is the ultimate protection against a common potential leak source. These products are also coated with a 70% PVDF resin based coating. This resin is the back bone so to speak of the coating and is responsible for the overall fade resistance and long lasting durability of the coating. PVDF is widely known as the leader in highly durable coating resins. Metal roofs are 100% recyclable and have recycled content ranging from 25% to 95%. This level of recycled content allows metal roofing to be included on listings for ‘green’ and recycled content products. These roof systems can be installed over most existing roofs eliminating the need to remove the old roof and fill up valuable landfill space. Roof panels come in a variety of color choices and are ENERGY STAR qualified.

Stimulus cost more than expected

It is really not a surprise that the Congressional Budget Office numbers wound up a little north of congress and the president on the stimulus. The good news is the spending programs for shovel ready projects are coming to an end. The effects of the President Obama stimulus spending this past summer had a positive effect they claim as it supposedly raised the GDP, lowered unemployment, and increased the number of people with jobs. We were more impressed with the truth in the truth in the price tag. We can almost believe the first statements due to the next one. The CBO says the original price tag of $787 Billion is actually going to be higher for the 10 year period: $814 Billion spent into the economy 2009-2019. Since we have still nation wide unemployment ranging around 10% the idea was to keep it around 8% if it passed. The bottom line is we are another 814 billion in the hole over the next ten years which we will need to borrow every year just to stay ahead. This humble scriber said that we should have been giving American families a $2500 Visa card to spend on any items they wanted to grow the economy through purchases than shovel ready projects.

Really are you kidding

For all those who say we never think a Republican can do any wrong we found one today. Remember the beginning of the month when we heard the Senate Republicans say there was ban on earmarks. A Republican has broken the rule three weeks after they made the commitment if anyone in Washington can ever be called out for a commitment. Arizona Senator Jon Kyl, pulled out a country riddled with debt $200 million to settle an Arizona Indian tribe’s water rights claim against the government. The sly move was passed when it slipped into a larger bill from President Barack Obama to settle claims by black farmers and American Indians against the federal government. This went over like a lead balloon and the office Senator Kyl insists the measure is not an earmark. Senate rules state an earmark is a spending item inserted primarily at the request of a senator that goes to an entity, or a targeted to a specific state. Sounds like an earmark to us. The money for the 15,000-member White Mountain Apache Tribe was one of four tribal water rights claims totaling almost $570 million that was added to the $5 billion-plus bill. Black farmers will get about $1.2 billion to settle claims that the Agriculture Department’s local offices discriminated against them in awarding loans and other aid. Another $3.4 billion goes to American Indians who say the Interior Department swindled them out of oil, gas and other royalties. The end of the day the tax payers just ponied up another five billion for crimes of generations before. The more things change the more they stay the same.
