Orlando International Airport – Great Design

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Traveling in American since 911 that has included an airport has been miserable. Long lines, feet smell, TSA rudeness, and too much time waiting around. We were pleasantly surprised with the Orlando International airport. If you are landing are taking off there are multiple runways and no waiting once you begin. The terminals have a tram that leads you out easily to your gate. The main area of the airport is more like a suburban mall. The airport itself is clean and there are plenty of restrooms. There is plenty of vending machines as well so if your there after hours you can get pretty much anything you need from iPod accessories, bathroom toiletries, and the usual suspects of soda, chips and bottled water. The flow through the airport is well designed, and there is plenty of seats for waiting for your flight at each gate. There are close to 100 gates but because it is Florida there was plenty of real estate to design the airport right the first time. The TSA entrance to the terminals slows everything down but there is a good amount of room to pack your belongings back up, put your shoes on and move along. This system works well instead of the other approach at some airports where you check in with TSA at every gate. We give high marks to the Orlando International Airport but in all honesty it is one of the most highest traveled to vacation spots in the world so they expected traffic 365 days a year.

The Crayola FACTORY at Two Rivers Landing

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

Next summer we are going to take a trip through Pennsylvania probably around the beginning of spring. We are thinking about making a stop at the The Crayola FACTORY. The little guys are full of creativity and they say the place is where there is no limitation to creativity and imagination. You can color, draw, paint and create with the latest Crayola products. Each creative space invites you to play and explore while learning and having lots and lots of fun. See how Crayola Crayons and Markers are made. Learn about the history of the Crayola brand. Explore dozens of interactive projects and activities. This is not the real manufacturing plant, but instead a visitor center that allows the child inside each person to unleash its creative spirit. Each quarter, themes and projects change, giving visitors a variety of projects to create throughout the year. We have started to work out the trip but we think it will include two days at Hershey Park, a day at Sesame Place and a final stop at the Crayola FACTORY the tickets for the day are lass than $10. We have not booked anything yet but we are also thinking about a trip to Florida in January.

President Obama allows Yemen Children soilders

Friday, October 29th, 2010

Yesterday the Obama administration has decided to exempt Yemen and three other countries that use child soldiers from U.S. penalties under the 2008 Child Soldiers Prevention Act. The officail statement came from Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. The bottom line is President Barack Obama determined it is in the national interest of the United States to waive application of the law to Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan and Yemen. This of course has bad timing as everything this white house touches as we find there is a suspected threat in the airports today from Yemen. The law would cut off military aid to those four countries; the law was signed by President George W. Bush shortly before he left office but did not take effect until this year. There were officials and experts all over the talking head show today saying Yemen has three times the Al-Qaeda forces that are in Afghanistan. The timing of all of this can not be stranger and in the past a terror attack usually is a help to the incumbents. We have a feeling this is a brave new electorate and they are more of the understanding that the only term limits are elections and it is time to use them.

Mount Auburn Cemetery October Trips

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

We were looking for something in the Halloween spirit to do in October. It was suggested we try Mount Auburn Cemetery. We have never been a big cemetery visitor or grave site viewer so it was kind of stretch for a family trip. The Mount Auburn Cemetery has been designated a National Historic Landmark by the Department of the Interior, recognizing it as one of the country’s most significant cultural landscapes. The grounds were founded in 1831, it was the first large-scale designed landscape open to the public in the United States. The design is amazing as the natural landscape with ornamental plantings, monuments, fences, fountains and chapels is full of amazing beauty. It is full of well known people final resting place like Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Charles Sumner, Charles Bulfinch, Isabella Stewart Gardner, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Henry Cabot Lodge, Henry Cabot Lodge Jr., and Little Women authero Louisa May Alcott. If you get a chance to this gravesite you will be amazed that somebody so famous and beloved, final resting place is marked so plainly. There are maps and things to look for as vistors are encouraged and you can even sign up so that Every month the Friends of Mount Auburn Cemetery sends out an electronic newsletter to you with historical, horticultural and birding highlights as well as news and program reminders. The Mount Auburn Cemetery is located at 580 Mount Auburn Street in Cambridge, MA

Play Outdoors web review

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Play Outdoors. All opinions are 100% mine.

We wanted to let you know about Play Outdoors as they have just launched their new and improved website last Friday 10/15. They have made it super easy to find all the cool products families and kids need to get outside. When you hear the name Play Outdoors you think kids outdoor actvities. They have added gift cards, product reviews, cross selling and some great content all designed to inspire families to get outdoors. One of the best new features is the ability to Shop by Activity. We can use this to plan trips as not only we can shop by activity but we will use the family travel section, as a helping guide to deciding where and what to do. It is a rare occurrence where the company listened to the customers. They listened and heeded the call to make shopping for outdoors product even easier from the experts who really care about families. We love the kids winter gear as here in the northeast it is time to get ready. Since our family has all sizes it is great that they have kids covered from size zero to fourteen. Do not forget to use the guides for size and winter gear, they really have though of everything in this redesign and it is worth a peek.

Tariq Aziz is guilty

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

President Bush can claim another win in the liberation of Iraq. Everyone wants to forget the horror that the Hussein regime. Today finally the international face of Saddam Hussein’s regime, Tariq Aziz, was sentenced to death by hanging for persecuting Shiites just over three months after the Americans transferred him to Iraqi government custody. The Iraqi High Tribunal spokesman did not say when the 74-year-old former foreign minister would get the noose but Aziz has 30 days to appeal which is more than his administration ever gave anyone. The left has used this war to their advantage and shaped the conversation to fit it. First it was a war for oil, when we did not take oil, it was because of revenge for his father, and then it was we went to war with no exit strategy. History will show it was a war based on stopping weapons of mass destruction but in the end it was about freedom as clearly what Iraq wanted. Iraq has executed a number of high-profile members of Saddam’s regime. There may never be closure and it may never have been the right thing. The truth when the books of time look back they will see a ruthless dictator was taken from power and the super power that did it had no agenda and held no quarter for the payment. These are the things that kill liberals and why they hate when everyone in the world says Ronald Reagan killed the Soviet Union admitting these things are tough pill to swallow, it is hard when you choke on the truth.

President Speak with Forked Tongue

Monday, October 25th, 2010

President Barack Obama playing both sides of the fence and confusing many. On one hand he says he sees opportunities to work with the GOP after Election Day. Then in the next sentence claims if the republican wins enough seats their will be gridlock. This is the same politician who ran for the White House promising a new era of bipartisanship. This has never happened as he has spent the last two years blaming President Bush and Republicans for every thing that he cannot fixed with his bad ideas. The latest polls shows that 84 percent of likely voters say that they are frustrated by politics and 81 percent say they have been disappointed with their expectations. The best part is this poll also says 61 percent of likely voters believe the GOP will win control of Congress in the midterm election, with most of those voters believing Republican victories would be a good thing for the country. If the congress can flip at least we can have the rest of the year off as lame duck pols never do anything. This president has spent the last two years, making excuses, running around the nation campaigning, leaving big plan to legislatures and not being accountable. We have thought this administration has closest to the President Carter presidency and hopefully will be one and done like the peanut farmer.

Dianna Agron Cheery Hott

Monday, October 25th, 2010

dianna_agron10

This week we are highlighting last year #41 Dianna Agron who was born April 30, 1986 in Savannah, Georgia is truly a Georgia peach. She did spend her high school years attending Burlingame High School in California. We think she will rise a little higher than last year but may not be the highest Glee cast member in the countdown. Dianna was the first Glee cast member to make the countdown as she spent all of 2009 in a cheerleader outfit on screen pretty hot. We choose her this year for a week as she is back to wearing a cheerleading outfit and has had a few steamy scenes as of late. Quinn Fabray is one of the strongest characters on the show that at this point has turned into a pretty talented ensemble cast. She started professional acting in 2005 and has a wide range of roles since that time. Dianna originally caught our eye in the short lived television show Shark, she has an angelic face and deep blue beautiful eyes. She has a rockin body with a dynamite hourglass figure. We believe that since Dianna is only 24 years old and finally getting some recognition; it is only a matter of time before she lands a role on the big screen

O’Hanlon, McCollum & Demerath for Cryotherapy

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

We wanted to let you know about O’Hanlon, McCollum & Demerath. They have the expertise and experience to deal with cryotherapy lawsuit. When you combine their highly trained staff, and lawyers they are uniquely well-equipped to handle even the most complex products liability claims. Their cold therapy attorneys understand that your injuries may not be your fault. Cryotherapy, also known as cold therapy or ice therapy, is one of the most widely-used treatment methods for certain muscle and joint injuries. Cold therapy devices are typically prescribed by doctors, such as orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists, after certain surgical procedures to minimize pain and swelling and encourage mobility. If the cold therapy devices are used too long, or at too cold of a temperature, it can result in serious injuries such as nerve damage, chronic pain, or frost bite. Because ice therapy can desensitize the affected area, serious injuries can occur without the patient’s immediate knowledge. Case studies have documented this injury pattern. If you suspect you have a cold therapy injury such as chronic pain, frost bite, or permanent nerve damage, and need to talk to a seasoned team of cold therapy injury legal professionals, please contact us immediately for a free consultation.O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath Person Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949

President Obama Changing Gears

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

President Obama is finally understanding that it is not only congress that has its fate, balancing on his policy, it affects him as well. Reports out of the White House they are preparing for political life after a bruising election, the President will put greater importance on fiscal discipline, does this means we are heard all the way up in the ivory tower? The electorate has been screaming for months about out of control spending. Since he will only have two years left and begin working without a super majority the smart thing to do is focus on deficit reduction, education and energy. He will have to stand up for his health care and financial overhauls and try to protect them from repeal. The smart thing to do is send the olive branch right away and extend Bush-era tax cuts that expire at year’s end. There will be a need for a more serious focus on how to balance the federal budget and pay for the programs that keep making the country further into debt. The only good news is when you see these reports from the White House and the President Obama staff you realize they know people are fed up with federal spending; particularly as unemployment remain so high.

Long Term – funeral planning

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

When you start thinking about long term plans, funeral planning is often over looked but a great idea. We understand that prepaying your funeral is a matter of personal choice. When you prepay you can take advantage of payment plans which can range from one year to 15 years. This is a good way to insure your funeral costs are guaranteed, helping preserve your estate dollars. If you did not know prepaid funeral funds grow tax free so that means you can put money aside without paying tax on the interest income. The other thing that can make your arrangements worth while planning ahead of time is you control the funeral service including Eulogies, poems; music and readings help to make a meaningful ceremony. The biggest key is to make sure you ensure your funeral is a unique reflection of your life and your wishes are fulfilled.

World Police is tough business

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

When you want to be the police for the world and a super power it is truly thankless. There are many reasons we could pick but when we hared that Russia is complaining that the United States has not acted on information the top Russian anti-drug official provided about many narcotics laboratories in Afghanistan. Russia has an estimated over two million opium and heroin addicts. For their part NATO has asked Moscow to contribute to the war effort in Afghanistan by training more counternarcotics agents and providing helicopters to the Afghan government’s air force. This has not happened and using other countries Intel you do not have confirmed on your own is tricky business. The bigger issue is before Russia calls use out there is the issue that after the fall of the Soviet Union there are many missing suitcase bombs that contain nuclear weapons. We think they should focus on that and leave drug enforcement to others. This is the problem with being world police and stuck in a country you hope to straighten out and leave. Diplomacy is needed and when you have back seat drivers trying to steer policy it only makes matters more confusing and convoluted.

It is time to start taking a real look at north vancouver real estate. The 20-story tower is still local and as the saying goes your neighborhood is everything. When you are thinking about getting to your destination right now it could not be smoother. The storied West Coast adventure of this area makes for one of the best, biggest backyards in the world that defines North Vancouver Real Estate. Just when you think you have it al it does get better as just downstairs, the strip along Central Lonsdale is the most culturally diverse streetscape in North Van. This neighborhood mingles friendly cafes, long-standing family businesses, pharmacies, restaurants, and a wide mix of shops and services. Best of all, Lonsdale has real heart and real warmth. Snail Mail Increase

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

It seems like every 12-18 months we get to write this post. The post office is trying again to get a rate increase next year. The folks over at snail mail are appealing to the Postal Regulatory Commission after the rejection of the latest requested increase. If you did not know the post office asked for a two cent increase to make a First Class stamp 46 cents starting in January. Our favorite part is the reason for the increase is to compensate for increasing losses caused by a drop in mail volume as a result of the weak economy, and a shift in communications and bill paying to the Internet. It does not take having too much on the ball to realize if there is a drop in mail volume and more people are bill paying bills on the Internet, why do you need to charge more. If you are doing less work why should we pay more for the service? According to the post office, the rate increase would generate about $2.3 billion in added revenue. This is needed as the post office is facing a $6 billion loss and has cut staff, taken steps to close offices and asked Congress for permission to reduce mail delivery to five days a week. We think it is time to cut more staff, close more offices and realize it is a dinosaur industry.

President Obama back on the tube

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

The campaign trail continues for Luke Skywalker. We watched this week which started with the president calling the Republicans the evil Empire from the Empire Strikes Back. We heard him say the Republican drove the country into the ground using a clunker reference. It does not stop their and to make you even sicker President Barack Obama is taking his campaign message to “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart. He is not going to do the show live as President Obama is taping an appearance on Oct. 27, just days before the Nov. 2 elections. The liberal elite and lam stream media are going out of their minds as Left Wing Looney Stewart is coming to Washington next week for the “Rally to Restore Sanity” he is holding three days later on Saturday, Oct. 30, on the National Mall. President Obama recently endorsed Stewart’s event. It will be the president’s first appearance on Stewart’s program. It is amazing the shock and horror the left is feeling, we love the lame stream media as they know the polls are usually correct and the news is not going their way. It is amazing the shambles the democrats have made of themselves in only 20 months. It is further hard to believe that the lame streamers need to only look in the mirror and wonder how they let it slip away.
