Every once and a while you have someone in congress, usually an election year do something you cannot believe. we are not talking about DUI, martial affairs, or ethics, we mean say something that makes sense. You know like they actually understand. Then you have to remember how cold and calculated every move a politician makes really happens to be. This is when you can decipher that they are only doing this for gain and not value. Step up to the plate House of Representatives memeber Ann Kirkpatrick a democrat from Arizona as she introduced a bill to cut pay for members of Congress by 5 percent. We should not think her heart is not in the right place but when you factor in the congress has an approval rating below 20 percent and there is no way that this will pass. you start to think what is the point, political gain for saying you are trying, she is a first-term congresswoman from a mostly republican state. We will give her some credit before we dismiss the idea as in the put your money where your mouth is Kirkpatrick is already handing back five percent of her pay every month to bring down the national debt. The current salary for a member of Congress is $174,000 and the last Congress pay cut was 77 years ago. It must be seen as a good measure as there have been 21 lawmakers from both sides of aisle signed on as co-sponsors and it is being considered by two House committees. We will see if this has any steam or if it is campaign season talk and disappears into the vapor after mid-term elections.
