The Senate is proceeding with debate on amendments to H.R. 3590, the health care bill. They worked both Saturday and Sunday over the weekend the yhave worked on this bill for six days without a break. So far there have been nine amendments and three motions. The three motions all from republicans have been rejected and five amendments have passed while four have been rejected. This is what has been added to the bill so far:
S.Amdt. 2791 Mikulski (D) Amdt. 2791 As Amended; To clarify provisions relating to first dollar coverage for preventive services for women. Vote. 61 – 39S.Amdt. 2826 Bennet (D) Amdt. No. 2826; To protect and improve guaranteed Medicare benefits. Vote. 100 – 0
S.Amdt. 2870 Whitehouse Amdt. No. 2870; To promote fiscal responsibility by protecting the Social Security surplus and CLASS program savings in this Act Vote 98 – 0
S.Amdt. 2899 Stabenow(D) Amdt. No. 2899; To ensure that there is no reduction or elimination of any benefits guaranteed by law to participants in Medicare Advantage plans. Vote 97 – 1
S.Amdt. 2926 Kerry (D)Amdt No. 2926; To protect home health benefits. Vote 96 – 0
A closer look at the passing amendments shows that 2791 was joint amendment from both sides of the aisle. Three others were all put forth by Democrats and one was a Whitehouse Amendment. This is really bad news and hopefully this will not continue as we fear every amendment that is passing from a Democrat is pulling the blue dogs to the other side as the yare getting the kick back they need somewhere else.
