President Obama finally decides on Afghanistan
President Obama finally came clean yesterday and decided to send 30,000 more troops into Afghanistan. In typical President Obama fashion, he made a spectacle of the announcement with another prime time speech. We have a couple of issues with the leader of the free world this morning based on last nights show. This makes 100,000 in the Afghanistan theatre, 50,000 of which President Obama will have sent in his first 11 months in office. It was odd to see him say President Bush did not fund or give enough troops to this conflict and then about 25 minutes later he claimed the troop request was for 2010 so there was no delay in needing troops on his part. He never mentioned the words “war on terror” “jihad” or “Islamic Terrorist” in this speech at all. The speech itself should have come from the oval office those poor cadets having to follow orders to watch this speech about something they will never be involved with because the timetable is 18 months. Two problems here the first twice the live camera feed of the audience found cadets sleeping, next is telling anyone we are only fighting for 18 months is defeating the purpose of the objective. He did in true President Obama fashion say that the issues on the ground would dictate when the withdrawal of the troops will take place, because history will tell us, that these people will wait out 18 months as they have been invaded by Britain and Russia and they are still there.
