Richardson free to give more state contracts to donors

Surprisingly it turns out Bill Richardson could have taken a job as U.S. Commerce Secretary with the President Barack Hussein Obama administration. Not like we could not see this one coming but federal prosecutors confirmed that no charges will be brought against New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and his former top aides. The charges would have been based on whether Richardson granted state contracts based on political patronage. It prompted the Democratic governor to withdraw his nomination for the post. The investigation last year into the hiring of a Richardson political donor, Beverly Hills-based CDR Financial Products Inc., as a financial adviser on state transportation bond deals. The state work generated almost $1.5 million in fees for CDR in 2004-2005. The year long federal investigation revealed that pressure from the governor’s office resulted in the corruption of the procurement process. You can always tell when the fix is in as Governor Bill Richardson was so scared of the outcome he was in Havana, where he was wrapping up a week long trade mission. The Richardson team issued a statement that they were gratified that this yearlong investigation has ended with the vindication of his administration. The fix could have come from Attorney General Eric Holder as they are hush on if he played any role. This will work out good for him as if he wants a job in Obama administration in 2012 as the governor’s second term expires at the end of 2010 and he can not seek re-election. There is no surprise another politician caught with his hand in the cookie jar. There is also no surprise that nothing will be done about because he is a Democrat and well liked by the administration.
