There is a bill calling for the audit of the Federal Reserve. Representative Barney Frank who is the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee has finally endorsed a bill HR 1207. The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, was introduced on February 26, 2009 by Representative Ron Paul, has 282 of co-sponsors on both sides of the aisle. This bill has been idling in House Financial Services Committee for months. The bill is expected to pass as part of a broader financial regulatory overhaul in October. The audit would make public a list of what the Federal Reserve buys and sells but that information would be released several months later so it does not affect the markets. The comptroller general in the Government Accountability Office will audit the Federal Reserve and report those findings to Congress. The first audit would be ordered by the end of 2010. The high number of co-sponsors to the bill suggests congressional lawmakers are dissatisfied with the Federal Reserve performance during the financial crisis. This is odd, as President Barack Hussein Obama has repeatedly endorsed and praised the job Chairman Ben Bernanke has done. He has just renewed the Republican for another term. The Senate has taken the bill as S 604. Sponsored by Senator Bernard Sanders, this has 23 cosponsors. It called the Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009 in the senate.

Surprisingly it turns out Bill Richardson could have taken a job as U.S. Commerce Secretary with the President Barack Hussein Obama administration. Not like we could not see this one coming but federal prosecutors confirmed that no charges will be brought against New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and his former top aides. The charges would have been based on whether Richardson granted state contracts based on political patronage. It prompted the Democratic governor to withdraw his nomination for the post. The investigation last year into the hiring of a Richardson political donor, Beverly Hills-based CDR Financial Products Inc., as a financial adviser on state transportation bond deals. The state work generated almost $1.5 million in fees for CDR in 2004-2005. The year long federal investigation revealed that pressure from the governor’s office resulted in the corruption of the procurement process. You can always tell when the fix is in as Governor Bill Richardson was so scared of the outcome he was in Havana, where he was wrapping up a week long trade mission. The Richardson team issued a statement that they were gratified that this yearlong investigation has ended with the vindication of his administration. The fix could have come from Attorney General Eric Holder as they are hush on if he played any role. This will work out good for him as if he wants a job in Obama administration in 2012 as the governor’s second term expires at the end of 2010 and he can not seek re-election. There is no surprise another politician caught with his hand in the cookie jar. There is also no surprise that nothing will be done about because he is a Democrat and well liked by the administration.

Well not to jump for joy about the possibility but for the first time in nearly half a century, Massachusetts voters will be handed ballots for the U.S. Senate seat held by Senator Edward Kennedy without his name on them. He stole the seat by having it appointed to an interim Senator. This was because Kennedy was too young when his brother vacated the seat to become President. Unfortunately the list of suitors might be as bad as the latter. This is Massachusetts of course which has not had a Republican senator since the loss of Edward William Brooke, III in 1978 to Paul Tsongas. Since it has been 21 years and there is unrest over Obama care and Congress. Is there a chance there could be a shift. It is not likely as Massachusetts is only of the only states polled that favors Obama care. The front runners for the seat are congressmen, former prosecutors and one of Edward Kennedy’s nephews. One thing rumored that is as stupid as it sounds Vicki Kennedy wife Ted would assume his Senate seat, she has decline as if anyone actually asked. On the Democratic side Joseph P. Kennedy II, Attorney General Martha Coakley, Representative Stephen Lynch, Michael Capuano, Edward Markey, James McGovern and William Delahunt, former Congressmen Martin Meehan names have been floated. Republican side include businessman Jeff Beatty, former Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey, former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan, state Sen. Scott Brown, and Chris Egan, a former U.S. ambassador. This all could be mute the Massachusetts legislature would likely have a public hearing on this issue within the next month. Can you say the fix is in, it usually is when these hacks have anything to say. Stay Tuned.

This administration was so hopped up on saying America will not torture prisoners, they spent the last eight months trying to nail President Bush, VP Dick Cheney, CIA, FBI, and anyone involved. Well as it turns out that maybe you will not be able to get any information from a prisoner by just asking nicely. Seems there is some questions are being raised about the effectiveness and toughness that is laid out in the Army Field Manual’s interrogation guidelines. These are the all important standard ordered across the board by the Obama administration in response to allegations of CIA abuse of detainees. The book is filled with movie tricks from the fifties like good cop-bad cop, the silent treatment, and a trick in which interrogators can pretend to be from another country. So we find out the President Barack Obama administration is establishing a special unit for questioning high-value detainees, is now indicating it is open to examining new methods. Keep in mind it was only this week that Attorney General Eric Holder launched a probe into alleged prisoner abuse under the Bush administration. The reason the field manual guidelines were over reached was because they are not enough to shake a hardened terrorist. It is amazing how this administration does this stuff and gets away with it. When the pictures of these surfaces do you think they will get the media outrage? Do you think that if they surface the media will blame the participants and not the policy? Do you think we will ever know?

Today we find out more great use of tax payer money. It turns out the federal government has sent about 3,900 economic stimulus payments of $250 each this spring to prison inmates. The checks were part of the massive economic recovery package approved by Congress and President Barack Obama in February. The check was supposed to go to about 52 million Social Security recipients; railroad retirees and those receiving Supplemental Security Income were eligible for the one-time checks. The total was about $13 billion in stimulus payments so only about $425,000 was sent to inmates. We find that 2200 of the check went to inmates who were not in prison when the check was being processed. That will make you feel better of course this means 1700 people were prisoners in a detention system somewhere in the US but the Social Security Administration thought they could use a little cash. Most of these checks were caught at the prison and returned. This also means we need to have an audit to examine whether checks incorrectly went to inmates, dead people, fugitive felons or people living outside the US. If that was not enough, seeing your hard earned taxpayer supplied stimulus money being hard at work. The $787 billion economic recovery package included $2 million for the inspector general to oversee the provisions handled by the Social Security Administration. They have put money in the budget to watch and then audit the people who gave out the money. If this was not real you would think it had to be made up, who would stand for this?

We really enjoyed the first season of Nurse Jackie the new Showtime series. The characters are all complex and looking for something more than life is giving them. The show concluded with a finale that had multiple plots coming together or exploding upon the characters involved. There are questions we have as we watch the inaugural season. Most of these involve the title character Nurse Jackie played by Edie Falco. She has a loving husband but she cheats on him. She can hardly get by any tough situation without running to the nearest bathroom and snorting whatever handy narcotic she has in her possession. This leads back to the cheating who she has a relationship with the pharmacist at the hospital. This is a weird dynamic as it only happens inside the walls of the hospital. Why does he not want more? In the finale her world comes crashing down as her pill person has been replaced by a machine and her affair lover met her husband and confronted her about it. They other characters all meet some kind of bad fate, Dr. Eleanor O’Hara none loving mother dies; Dr. Cooper is chasing Nurse Jackie with no luck. Nurse Administrator Gloria Akalitus hopes were dashed about adopting a baby left behind and Nurse Zoey Barkow has rendered a patient incapacitated to do their job. This is the mark of great writing when each character arcs and we can not wait for the return of the show.
Do you remember when President Barack Hussein Obama said “we are going to look forward not backward”? Well he obviously did not send the memo to Attorney General Eric Holder. He shows just how much we can put stock in what he says as well as how much control he has over his team. Holder has decided to appoint a federal prosecutor to investigate possible abuses by CIA interrogators in using harsh tactics on terror detainees. Holder appointed federal prosecutor John Durham to look into abuse allegations after the release of an internal CIA inspector general’s report that revealed agency interrogators once threatened to kill a Sept. 11 suspect’s children and suggested another would be forced to watch his mother be sexually assaulted. This of course rolls back to weatherboarding, the simulated drowning technique. There were three high-level suspects that underwent weatherboarding. This opens President Barack Hussein Obama to once again hear from Dick Cheney that this is “why so many Americans have doubts about this administration’s ability to be responsible for our nation’s security.” This is why people are so untrusting of government, when the President can say one thing in January and then disregard it in August there is a reason for the nation to be skeptical. Does this mean he is for a single payer plan today but six months from now it is a state run plan? Does this mean today he is for letting congress decide the plan today but six months from now it will be an executive order? What is Attorney General Eric Holder role in this and why does not listen to his bosses request. This is going to do more harm then good for the country, the FBI, the CIA, and the Military.

We knew the topic has been beat to death, pardon the pun. We just want to weight in that even as much as Sarah Palin was looking at getting the most bang for her buck in word choice, coining the term “Death Panels” is a winner. We know the left wants you to believe there is no such thing but the fact is they must be in place already. They have to be some guidelines set up by the big national healthcare providers. When you couple a doctors opinion with what a hospital is willing to allow and an HMO is willing to cover the end result is a death panel. There can be no national health care plan that set limits on any kind of care without it being a death panel, or as someone stated before call them life panels but they do and will exist. Why is this so hard to believe? Some committee, board, or body will decide that after a horrific crash if you are on life support and completely brain dead for one week, they will pull the plug. This is based on a study that says those who have horrific crash and are on life support, completely brain dead for at least one week have a .05% chance of recovery. This will cost the hospital, health plan and family millions to keep this person alive for only a .05% chance of recovery. That my friend is not a life panel decision that is a death panel playing God.
