Stimulus money for Turtles and Corporate Jets

When there is blood in the water the sharks will circle, in congress Republican Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma questioned one hundred stimulus projects items that are not going to help stimulate the economy. He presented list just in case you thought the numbers was unreal. These things will put money into the systems and in general will provide work, more than likely not new jobs, but more town workers will be able to keep their job. Examples of these things that are on the list are skateboard parks, streetscapes, upgrades of park facilities, bike trails, and parking garages. He does make some valid points as well that should be heard. The repair of 37 rural bridges in Wisconsin that average little more than 500 vehicles a day, one only carried less than ten a day, another $840,000 to repair a bridge that carries 260 vehicles a day largely to a backwater saloon and a country club. There is $3.4 million for the Florida Department of Transportation project for an underground wildlife road crossing for turtles and other wildlife. The Bureau of Land Management project to study the impact wind farms have on the sage grouse population in Oregon. There is a Grants and loans totaling $1.3 million to Solon Township in Leelanau County, Michigan to help pay for construction of a wastewater treatment plant. Local opposition killed the project. The money will now be used for a future treatment plant, for which there is no plan. Road signs that cost $300 each, are being placed at construction sites to alert motorists that the project is being paid for by the stimulus money. A $3 million project to repair taxiways at Hanscom Field, Massachusetts used for corporate jets. The Montana state-run liquor warehouse received $2.2 million to install skylights. The project is part of the $27.7 million the state has been awarded for energy programs.
