President Barack Obama has made his choice for the Supreme Court and will make a midmorning announcement of that decision. The choice to replace retiring Justice David Souter will be needed by the end of the court current term. There is a short list of candidates in the running. There are three women as top choices they include Elena Kagan who is the Harvard Law School Dean. The leading candidate in the press is Sonia Sotomayora federal judge on the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit as she is Hispanic. Diane P. Wood who is the Dean of law at University of Chicago and with her hometown ties, she might inside track. None of these choices will be named without a fight and that being said there is not enough Republicans to stop any of them from being confirmed. There is the possibility that they will de rail themselves President Obama has not shown good judgment in vetting picks for the cabinet, this larger stage maybe they will put more effort forward. There are pros and cons to each and we decided to let the President decide before we come out against the choice.
