MySpace New Sherriff = Layoffs

MySpace is rumored to have let go of as many as 45 employees in the last week. There has been official word and no comments from MySpace. We are not sure at this time if the positions will be filled or if they are going to be reshuffled between current and remaining staff. This is an amazing time at MySpace maybe turning from a cool hipster work environment to a business. The parent company FOX removed without prejudice the MySpace founding CEO Chris DeWolfe. It does not take rocket science to know that restructuring was going to be the first order of business for Van Natta. They have already shelved and cut programs that were in the pipeline or on the drawing board. This is not the first rumor as long ago as last July MySpace was rumored to have laid off 5% of its workforce, those cuts were performance based. There is something going on and there have to be a few nervous people in the MySpace halls. There must be a division growing between the employees from the old regime and the new executives roaming around the building.
