Cyberspies and the U.S. electrical grid

Cyberspies have infiltrated the U.S. electrical grid and left behind software programs that could be used to disrupt the system. The spies came from China, Russia and other countries sources from the current and former U.S. national security officials. There has been no damage the power grid or other key infrastructure as of yet. There is a belief this is an attempt to map the infrastructure of the electrical grid. The number of attempts rises every year and last year was no exception. There is also water, sewage and other infrastructure systems at risk from these same attacks. Next week President Obama cyber security review will be completed and we should have more details, on both planning and detouring. It is not believed these are the acts of terrorists as the sophistication of the intrusions suggests that it is more of a high level of intelligence not found in most terrorist regimes. The biggest concern is that these attacks can be enacted during an emergency to make an even dire situation worse. This could lead to more wide spread panic and the inability to get messages to first responders.
