FaceBook is adding a new application; the company Oodle will handle the task. Oodle, an online classifieds startup founded by former eBay and Excite The San Mateo, California based Oodle already powers the classifieds on MySpace, and has a network of more than 200 classifieds sites. The new revamped FaceBook Marketplace will be places to buy, sell and give things to people you know. The idea is Oodle will use Facebook’s trusted online community, along with the assumption that there is a real-life person behind each listing. A user can choose to post a listing on your profile; your friends can comment on it, share it with their friends or click “Like” to show their approval, just as they can with any other posted item. The users who wish to list an item must answer, “Why are you selling it?” Besides selling your old junk, Facebook users can also give things away, ask for them or sell items for a cause by pledging to donate the proceeds to charity. There is no proof that new Marketplace will enjoy great popularity.
