Wake up Manny

We do not like to blog sports, we do not like to talk about sports, and the ridiculous money athletes earn. We understand that if 35,000 people pay average of $40 to see a game, the players deserve a slice. Today we find out Los Angeles Dodgers have offered Manny Ramirez a one-year $25 million deal take it or leave it. Manny wanted to be paid about $100 million for the next four years. Manny is now 37 years old and has worn out his welcome in Boston. He was traded to LA last year and he rejuvenated the team leading them to the playoffs. He has been on the free agent market since the end of the season this appears to be the first offer he has received. The problem we have with this today is there are close to 2.5 million people out of work. They announce layoffs everyday and unemployment is climbing toward 7%. We know there is really only one payday left for this player and a multi-year deal would finish his career. The problem is he has over priced the market and his worth, so suck it up and take the deal. You are embarrassing yourself with this hubris. You are making the people who stand in an unemployment line sending out resumes everyday to places that thousands of people are applying for the same job. You play a game and you are very good at it, take the money shut up and try again next year.

Super Bowl Ads weigh in

We were not charged about the ads for the game. So here is a little recap of our reaction to the day. Faith Hill is no Ray Charles but it is better than if they asked Jamie Foxx. Jennifer Hudson lip synced the national anthem, still no match for the Whitney Houston live version. The Kurt Warner choke pass to end the half cost his team the game. How can you not see a 290 pound guy with a huge 92 in the wrong color uniform? Bruce Springsteen was impressive as a halftime show. Never been a big fan but it was the best show in recent memory, Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones appeared to just go through the motions the last couple years. The second half was great and it is always good when the game goes down to the final play. Which of course was Warner coughing up the ball on a fumble, to end the game? The other side of this his wife looks much better than she did in the hay days of the Rams. Do you thing she had some work done? The commercials you had to like the Doritos ad but our favorite was the Potato Heads driving the car.

Kellie Pickler Curvaeously Stunning

The woman of the week is last years number 16. Kellie Dawn Pickler was born on June 28, 1986 in Albemarle, North Carolina. She grew up living with her grandparents, where she was a cheerleader, beauty queen, and part time singer. When she was 17 in 2004 she was in the running for Miss North Carolina. Her big break and where we first can to know here was in 2006 as an American Idol contestant on season five. She finished in sixth place which was kind of a joke when you think about it. The winner and runner up that season Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee have had little if any sucsess. Third place finisher Elliot Yamin has had some but very little success as well. Fourth place winner and should have won was Chris Daughtry who is the most successful from the top 12 that season. Fifth place that season when to Paris Bennett who you did not even remember before we mentioned just her name. Kelli went back home to North Carolina signed with 19 records and released Small Town Girl and has been a staple on country radio since. Her new self titled CD is continuing here pop style and charm. Kelli just signed on to Taylor Swift’s first headline tour as the opening act. She is naturally beautiful and has a smoking body with great curves. She would be a great girl you could bring home to mom and when you go her home you just watch her walk around the house and are completely satisfied. She is a rare find in the celebrity world and we hope she is around for years to come. She can wow them on the red carpet and she changes her look often enough to keep you wanting more.

The Bush Democracy Project

Another year has passed and the Bush Democracy Project in Iraq again on display. The provincial elections have wrapped up without any reports of serious violence. The polls closed at on Saturday with millions of voters casting ballots for influential regional councils around most of Iraq. More than 14,000 candidates are running for 440 seats to lead councils that are the equivalent of state legislatures in the United States. This was the first elections in four years and was going to be the proof that there is stability and creating a way for the US role in Iraq can be reduced. This is still a huge security operation around the country that included traffic bans in major cities and extensive checkpoints and surveillance posts. Iraqis streamed passed police cordons and barbed wire as they went to the polls. In Tikrit, mortars fell near one polling station and a bomb was defused elsewhere that had been reported. Our military was out in force but did not take a direct role in the election security. The results are not expected to come for at least several days.
