Election Hang over Follow Up

Well it was nice to watch TV last night without any political ads. Never thought we would be so happy for plan old furniture stores and car spots. Something’s are not decided about election 2008. The two that jump out at us are Minnesota senator race where unbelievably Al Franken is within a 1000 votes of becoming a Senator. This is a huge leap considering there was a time in the campaign when only one person showed up to hear him speak. We will be watching, as an automatic recount has been scheduled and the lawyers are getting ready from both sides. The other is the issue in California although there is still only 99% of the vote counted. Barack Obama grabbed all 55 Electoral College votes with a 61%-37% win in the popular vote. Oddly enough with so many people voting democratic, the ban on gay marriage is ahead 52%-48% with about a 500.000 vote lead. If this total continues and ballot question passes this presents a bigger issue. For the last four and half months, there have been 16,000 gay marriages in California. Are these people no longer married? Do they have an option to fight in court? Will they be grandfathered in? Needless to say there are something’s that will keep this election on the front pages for days to come.

Barack Obama – Carpe diem

Well we were wrong. So very wrong. The country was ready for change; the young people did get out and vote. The people that we thought said they would vote for Barack Obama when the curtain closed and they had to pull the switch for him they did. We are looking forward to the first 100 days of the Barack Obama presidency to see if he can make the changes and bring the hope he promised. He does have the backing of the House of Representatives and the Senate for help with the agenda. He looked presidential last night giving his acceptance speech and not to take anything away from a tremendous victory, the exit polling said the country was looking for something different. This could be turning point in the United States as the Barack Obama is fitted between the baby boomers and generation x. This sweet spot was road to victory and could be the start of the end of the old white guy political network. Congratulations to Barack Obama and all his supporters as the time was right for change. They say Carpe diem which is Latin for seize the day, which is what happened on November 4, 2008.

Election Day 2008

Hello, it is Election Day and if our morning at the polls is any indication, there are many people showing up. We opened the polls in our hometown and waiting in a line to get in at 7AM. We waited until we got our shot, so it is done for 2008. The best news is that the political ads will come to halt tonight. We live in Massachusetts so it is not a battle ground state as the out come is a given. We could not imagine how bad it must have been in Ohio, Florida, and this year Pennsylvania. We urge everyone to get out and vote no matter the candidate as it makes it more genuine when you complain. So remember get out and vote, do not walk away because the lines are long, do not walk away because NBC say they now the winner before you voted. Do not walk away because your state is hopelessly in the pocket of one candidate or the other. Just vote, take the time to make your voice be heard. One of the greatest rights in this country is the right to vote and it is not shared by many of our friends around the world.

Obama hubristic or just cocky

We thought we would throw this at you as it is getting closer to Election Day. It seems if you believe the lame stream media that Obama has it sewn up. If you look at Electoral College map things look pretty grim for the GOP. We thought we would just throw this out there as the DNC is now a party that is claiming change. They wanted change so bad, so radical, the moved the first black man to run for President. The thought we want you to take with you is, as you remember Obama won the states that are going to be red on Election Day. Clinton won New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, which the last has become a battle ground state along with Ohio and Florida. Most of the insiders say these three states will decide the next President. The point to ponder is was it a calculated mistake for Obama to be the candidate for 2008. Could you not have seen Clinton winning in 2008 & 2012 followed by Obama in 2016 and 2020. The GOP has been in power 16 of the last 24 years, is it such a stretch to think that a Clinton – Obama ticket could not have reigned for the next 16 years. Since the country is in the midst of a recession there is a chance if things do not pick up by quarter three 2009 the incoming President will start to be blamed for not getting the job done. We understand they will blame the last eight years but rolling into 2012 if they country feels it has been more of the same or worse, then there is a good chance it will 1976 all over again. Were Carter was a one term President that could not kick start the economy in four years and was tossed to the curb. The elected President was in the midst of an energy crisis facing double digit inflation does this sound familiar? He said on inauguration day “We have learned that more is not necessarily better, that even our great nation has its recognized limits’ Good Luck Obama history and the cards seem to be dealt against you.

Shannon Elizabeth Amorously Acquiescent

This week we highlight as the Women of the Week, Shannon Elizabeth Fadal who was born in Houston, Texas on September 7, 1973. We know her by her shortened name Shannon Elizabeth. She grew up in Waco, Texas where she aspired to have a professional tennis career. She is both an actress and fashion model. Hr first professional jobs were as a model. She first came to be noticed with her role as the Russian foreign exchange student in the 1999 movie American Pie. She had a role in the movie Jack Frost before the American Pies movies as she was in both the first and second. She has also been on the silver screen in Scary Movie, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Love Actually, Tomcats, Cursed, The Grand, and Deal. She appeared as the likeness and voice in the video game for James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing. She has also done some minor work on scripted television shows. She recently has done two reality shows Dancing with Stars in which she finished seventh, and NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship to which she finished third. We have loved watching the long legged brunette from her days in Pie to her high stakes poker playing. There can be nothing hotter then a girl who can get naked for Playboy and in movies, dance in a ballroom, and throw down on the river playing poker. Shannon Elizabeth may not be huge star but she will always have a corner on the Tea512.

There is a great story out of Montfermeil , France, that is right we do not usually care about anything European. We care even less about anything French. When we see the report of how the French population is clamoring for a chance to cast a ballot for a leader from their own growing visible minorities. This is not only in France but Germany and Britain as well. They see the largely white political structure from the upper class cities running the political system. They are looking for the election of Obama as a ray of hope to their future. The people they interviewed talked about how they have been in France for many years but feel they are outsiders and do not feel French. In France there are 577 seats National Assembly which has only one black lawmaker. In Germany only ten of 612 seat are filled by minorities. These countries are looking at the United States as once again a leader, a beacon of hope for all people. This is kind of story that makes you pump your fist, wave your flag, and makes you remember why we say America is the best country in the world. We may fight left and right, we my segregate between rich and poor, black and white, Yankees and Red Sox but the bottom line is there is no place in the world better than the United States and the rest of the world knows it.

YES (the band) & YouTube

The band Yes is starting a planned 40th-anniversary tour next week. They band had problem as bassist Chris Squire, guitarist Steve Howe and drummer Alan White, needed to find a replacement for singer Jon Anderson whose respiratory ailments were going to force a cancellation of the tour. Time was a problem as The North American tour launched on November 4, in Hamilton, Ontario. The first U.S. date is November 7 in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. The soft search began two weekends ago, they started trolling YouTube where they found 42 year old, Benoit David singing with his group, a Yes cover band named Close to the Edge. He agreed to help out the band understanding he would not be a replacement for Jon Anderson. The original decision did not sit well with Jon Anderson who posted on his website an article expressing his disappointment. This has since been removed. The band rectified the problem by deciding also not to mislead anyone; they will tour under the name In the Present. So once again this displays the power of the Internet, and the power of YouTube. We laugh all the time at YouTube videos of garage bands pretending to be stars. Well it looks like Benoit David is laughing at us, as he will be touring as the front man of a band making real cash.
