McCain vs. Obama III

You can tell Republican Senator John McCain reads the poll numbers. Last night’s final debate moderated by CBS News anchor Bob Schieffer at Hoftstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. McCain stayed on the offensive attacking as much as possible against rival Democrat Senator Barack Obama. For the whole 90-minute debate, McCain kept pushing Obama against the wall trying to force answers. He made him speak about his association with 1960s radical William Ayers. He forced Obama into another corner over the liberal activist group ACORN, now facing voter fraud charges. McCain kept up the mud fight charging Obama of being a tax-and-spend big-government liberal. He pushed over and over again Obama would raise taxes. He also jumped on him for his change on his stance on off shore drilling. During the same exchange he said he admired Obama’s eloquence, the back handed compliment was really about how you have to listen to the content and not be hypnotized by the wordspeak. McCain jumped on the Obama plan for healthcare for what he called European style socialized medicine. The only thing the smiling Obama would do as these attacks came in from the glaring McCain, is to fire back about how a McCain administration is four more years of Bush policy. There many exchanges and references to plumber Joe as McCain charged Obama in participating in class warfare. Once again was it enough to poke holes trying to slow the Obama train as it steams toward Election Day with anywhere from a 10 to 15 point lead.

Top Ten McCain needs for tonight’s debate

These are the top ten things John McCain needs to do in tonight’s debate to get the campaign back on track.

#10. 95% tax cut for all Americans – McCain needs to hammer Obama on this. There is no way we can give a tax cut while making a $300 billion bailout for the housing industry and a $700 billion bailout for the bank industry. There are loopholes he can cut there is not a trillion dollars worth. Then say Obama does not like puppies.

#9. Religion / Muslim – Obama was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ for twenty years. He has stated his family will look for another church to join with no decision until January. McCain needs to use this to paint him as a waiting to be Muslim convert. Then say Obama does not like apple pie.

#8. Done Nothing – McCain has repeated this point into the ground. A Senator with no legislation that has ever been roll voted on is the epitome of the statement “done nothing.” Then say Obama does not like baseball.

#7. Democratic Congress – McCain needs to “straight talk” the American person, telling them a Democratic President and Congress is a bad thing. There would be no checks and balances. Then say Obama does not watch The Hills.

#6. Race Card – McCain needs to play the race card, the country cannot just discriminate against a person for President based on race, sexual orientation, size or age. The Democrats are guilty of referencing McCain being too old. McCain needs to hire Rev. Al Sharpton and file a grievance with the civil liberties union before November 4. Then say Obama cannot name the seven American Idols.

#5. Barney Frank /  Nancy Pelosi – John McCain needs to remind the American that Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are Democrats. Frank watched the banking industry fall apart since he led the finance committee. Pelosi has led congress to pass the least amount of legislation in it’s history. McCain needs to tie these two Democrats who suck at their jobs to Obama. Then say he does not like parades.

#4. Media bias – John McCain needs to point out to the American people that CNN, NYT and NBC already have big heads. If the Democrats win this election, they will prove they are instrumental in guiding the country in the left direction. Then say Obama has never helped an old woman cross the street.

#3. Hollywood Elite – This one is easy John McCain needs to look America in the eye and say just because Sheryl Crow and Sean Penn want you to vote for somebody does not mean you should. Crow sings songs and Penn acts out other peoples words, America should not be looking to these people for political advice. Then say Obama when turning left in the left only lane uses no directional.

#2. Hillary Clinton – John McCain needs to call Obama out for what he is a sexist. Everybody knows Hillary Clinton is a better choice for VP then Joe Biden. The women received 18 million votes for president. Why is he so afraid of the best person for the job, because she is a woman? Obama believes woman should be barefoot and pregnant. Then say Obama does not like Dunkin Doughnuts.

#1. Jimmy Carter – John McCain needs to press the American people with a history lesson. The last time we had an energy & inflation crunch the country elected a Democrat, Jimmy Carter. Do you remember what happened in the 70’s, inflation sharply increased, disco was invented, and people wore polyester? We cannot let the country slip back into those terrible days. Then tell the Americans Obama does not eat turkey on Thanksgiving.

Motion makes your phone not ring

The next step in life control has been developed by Aegis Mobility, their new software is called DriveAssistT. It can detect whether a cell phone is moving at car speeds. If you are driving, the software will alert the cellular network, holding all calls and text messages until the drive is over. Callers hear a message the person they are calling is driving. They can leave an emergency voice mail, which is put through immediately. The software will only work on Windows Mobile software, or Symbian software. The software using the Global Positioning System chip and the cell-tower signal to detect motion switches the software on. The service, which has no agreements in place, looks like it will be $10 to $20 per month for a family. DriveAssistT is a partnership with an insurance company, Nationwide Mutual Insurance, which plans a discount for users. So if this software is the gateway to you telling your insurance company, you are driving, and how much. Let take this to the next extreme level are far away from them knowing how fast, where you are, and how much you drive. So will get a message from your insurance company your policy is changing. This is due to you driving to fast, based on the time it takes you to go from point A to Point B. Maybe it will be because your car stops in high crime area for a good portion of the day. How about you are driving 400 miles a day and that makes you more of a risk based on just being on the road. As we watch all of these advances we have to remember the more information about yourself you give up the more open you are to being scrutinized over it.

She is a beautiful girl that has a great sense of style. Her videos have risen to higher level with each release and only getting better. There is no hotter image than Alicia walking the stage as she sings then sitting down behind a piano, as you can see how talented she really is. We look forward to seeing her more on the silver screen but she is one of the best artists of the decade.

YouTube boldly goes…

YouTube is adding more real content as the video sharing website is now running full length television shows from CBS archive. This is only another step as they in talks with other networks as well. They have added a full length badge to these shows so they are not confused with shorter clips or cat toilet flushing videos. The shows include Star Trek Young and the Restless and Beverly Hills 90210 so far. There is also a new theater feature adding as an enhancement to viewing the online videos. We have reported in the past how Hulu was in direct competition over professional programming, the have claimed the NBC Universal branch. The numbers are a massive dispersion where in August YouTube had 330 million users, opposed to Hulu 3.3 million in the same time frame. This is a giant step and maybe an olive branch in the Google and YouTube $1 billion copyright infringement lawsuit from Viacom. The lawsuit is over content uploaded to the site without Viacom’s permission. This can legitimate the YouTube experience and go long way in the decision to come to an agreement with Viacom following suite with other media outlets gaining more control over what content is uploaded.

Apple makes you pay and pay

We became very sad with the death of our iPod. Submerging an iPod in coffee in not recommended as it is a kill shot to the hardware. We purchased a new iPod Touch which comes with wifi, very cool. The hard drive is only 8GB compared to the 20gb we had before is a little shock. This means we manage the music more than dumping on anything we want. We are able to add movies and videos so we have been juggling the content since the start. All that said we can surf the web, listen to tunes, check email, world clocks and the temperature in 10 cities with a touch. So when the commercial on television showed free apps from the store, we got right on board. Not so easy, first we needed to update PC to iTunes 8.0, bonjour and safari, the total was about 150mb and a couple of hours with two reboots. When all was done we fired open the new iTunes and it lead to me to the app store. We could not load any with upgrading the o/s 2.1. So we needed to update the iTouch software that only came out in January. Here is the rub they wanted to charge me $9.99, we are not cheap, and OK yes we are.  The point is why should we have to pay $10 for and upgrade, we do understand it is a full version upgrade needless to say we did not do it. We are huge PC people and this is a case of Apple treating their users like lambs to the slaughter. We have always thought of MAC users as the same as battered wives that stay in abusive relationships. Now being on the inside it is not very fun and sad there is nothing that can be done.

The verdicts are in and they are cool

Two stories that crossed the wire today are case were the judges punishment fit the crime. They did not use a standard approach and this thinking outside the box is to be commended. In Eau Claire, Wisconsin, a man who caused damage at a wastewater treatment plant was given a choice of public humiliation or jail time to pay for his crime. The man was found guilty of ramming his car into a closed gate at the plant. The Eau Claire County Judge Paul Lenz created an option for the guilty defendant, he could spend time in jail, or spend a day outside the plant holding a sign that says “I was stupid.” hence, and he decided the wearing the sign was better than jail time. The same thing, a judge’s good decision from the bench happened in Urbana, Ohio as well. This is a case where the defendant was facing a $150 fine for playing rap music loud on his car stereo. The judge, Champaign County Municipal Court Judge Susan Fornof-Lippencott offered to reduce the fine to $35 if the defendant agreed to spend twenty hours listening to classical music. She said the idea was to force him to listen to something he might not prefer, just as other people had no choice but to listen to his loud rap music. He only lasted 15 minutes and paid the fine, but we applaud both judges for trying to make difference and actually making the defendants pay a consequence that might matter as opposed to just cash.

Google – Game On

In a new revelation from all things, Google the Mountain View, California based company you will now see adsense in games. There will be a beta version looking to gain more revenue for the online search leader. The area is new for advertising to put relevant advertising links in Web-based games. This is not proposed as a simple sidebar during the game. This is not a targeted ad for the playing Xbox, ps3, or wii under the game screen. The idea is to target ads as videos that players watch before or after a game, or after completing a level. It is not as if we did not see this coming as in 2007, Google purchased Adscape Media, a small in-game advertising company. This at the time was a direct response to Microsoft purchase of the ad company Massive Inc. Mochi Media is already working with Google to provide in-game ads in Europe. This is further evidence that everything you will ever do online will come with a commercial. There is no such thing as free and you usually get what you pay for. This is a new battleground and another area where people are getting used to having to watch a commercial or see a string of ads as they view the content they desire. We wonder if this will spawn a creation such as HBO, when cable appeared a commercial free zone of uncut, unfettered content for a price. How many years away from paying for web free browsing?

McCain vs. Obama Debate II – Yawn

Well last night debate was another yawn fest both candidates serving up the same old tired talking points. There are not too many polls out there, which do not have Obama starting to walk away. McCain was really in a tough spot. He needed to hammer Obama and get ugly so to speak. It is hard to do such a thing and look Presidential. Obama looked strong and confident as he roamed the stage speaking directly to the questioner. McCain at times looked like he did not know where to stand, other times he would wonder around as he searched for an answer. Eighty undecied voters were on the stage each hand picked by Zogby. After the debate McCain left the stage, Obama stayed. He shook hands with anyone as well as posing for countless photos. We do not know who told McCain to leave or where else he had to be. It would seem that as an undecided person who has seen one candidate stick around to say thank you and pose for photos. When the other one left the building, it is almost a given who they are going to think cares more about them. This is another example of why Obama gets it. What needs to be said and needs to be done. It does not matter if you cannot get your plan through congress or if it is full of holes. All you need is for America to buy in and that is where McCain has been routinely beaten to the punch. There is only 28 days to go with one more debate to follow. The clock is ticking down and McCain needs a hail mary because Obama seems to have the ball and making sure he does not give it back to McCain with anytime left on the clock.

Land of the Free – Not Kenya

Today in Nairobi Kenya the American author of a best-selling book attacking Barack Obama, Jerome Corsi, who wrote The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality. He was picked up by police, briefly detained at immigration headquarters before being brought to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for deportation. This is a real life example of why our system is truly free. Corsi book claims Obama is unfit for the presidency so he was being deported. He had been scheduled to launch his book Tuesday in Kenya, where the Democratic U.S. presidential candidate is popular. The book claims Obama is a dangerous, radical candidate for president that he was raised a Muslim and attended a radical black church. Obama’s father was a Kenyan economist and the candidate is considered by many Kenyans as a native son. The claim is that he did not have a work permit, we see this as another country that makes rules up as they go along, using them as they see fit. Obama is a rock star in Kenya and they were not going to let this guy tarnish his reputation. Every time we hear a story like this it makes the freedoms we hold dear in the United States mean so much. You cannot be shutdown because your opinion is unpopular. Every voice has the right to protest and participate in any gathering. We do not even deport immigrants as there is about 13 million roaming American streets today. Diverse opinion is what makes a country strong and Kenya should be ashamed of taking a stance like this.
