Here is another example of a media bias that is so below the radar it can only be uncovered with an understanding of news cycles. Today it was reported that October had the lowest monthly total of just thirteen fatalities. The sharp decrease is a downward trend that saw 25 in September and 23 in August. The drop in American fatalities is due to the overall security improvements across the country. So why do we say there is a media bias if we can find out all this information. This information comes out by the national press on a Friday afternoon. Let us double dip that by it is a Friday that is Halloween. This means most Americans will be shuffling their kids around from door to door or attending Halloween parties. This story will stay in the news cycle for six hours and will be blown to dust by the latest poll for president come sunlight. Now since we like to be fair the news in not great for Iraqi’s because more of their soldiers, police and civilians are dying. If you are first reading of this here put on NBC, CNN, MSNBC and wait for the report if it is still Friday you have a shot we would say up until 10pm. That is when this report will be pushed to archive and the political campaigns can continue to use the war is a mistake as a talking point. Have you noticed the mentions of the death toll in Iraq have not been heard in a while? That is probably because the number is not increasing as this report states over the last four months, that being said even one US fatalities is too many
In the sleepy college town of Morrisville, New York on the campus of Morrisville State College University there is a fifty-five year old campus officer named Sergeant Steve Brody. There is also a coffee shop called The Valero Nice N Easy, both are in the upstate New York town. The coffee shop offers free coffee to any police officer in uniform. Officer Brody stopped by daily for a cup of coffee and the newspaper. At the same time they have on surveillance video helping himself to other items as he routinely stuffed a pastry into his coat. New York State police have accused Brody of taking about $30 worth of pastries over at least 17 separate occasions. Brody, 55, was ticketed for petit larceny. He has not been removed from his position at this time. It always amazing that when some one get a free bit at the apple it is never enough. We see this time and again that once someone is given a free lunch they expect a free diner. When someone is given a free dinner they expect a free drink to go with it. This seems to be more common in the public sector and the welfare state then in the private sector. Happy Halloween everyone and remember when they hold out the candy dish, take one candy, unless you’re a politician then you take the whole bowl.

We at Tea512 believe there is a media bias, so when things pops out that are clear we are going to let you know. There is a controversial Halloween display in West Hollywood a home has hanged an effigy of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin from a noose. The display also includes a mock-up of presidential candidate John McCain sitting in a chimney surrounded by paper flames. We understand the free speech and there right to it, what we are pointing out is the bias nature this is being portrayed in the media. Do you remember the golf analyst who said Tiger Woods competition should take him out to a back alley and lynch him? Her name was Kelly Tilghman she was suspended for two weeks but the media went crazy. Now let us flip this instead the West Hollywood gay community where this incident takes place, let us say in the rural southern Bible belt someone did the same thing, but used Michelle Obama. Would you think it would not be considered a hate crime? Would the people not be arrested? Would the media not be in up in arms running coverage for ten straight news cycles? This is the double standard, this is the media bias, this is when you can point to NBC, MSNBC, CNN and NYT and ask why it is only a passing story and not a full assault?

We at Tea512 love two things about being home the TV Remote and an ice Cold beverage. So there is a new study sponsored by Reckitt-Benckiser Inc., the makers of Lysol, and the results are in. If someone in your house has a cold you can rest assure there will be germs on the refrigerator door handle and the TV remote. Once they are there they can live for two days or longer. Two years ago, this same group found that germs survived in hotel rooms a day after guests left, waiting for the next person checking in. Then the researchers contaminated surfaces with mucus and then tested to see if it stuck to fingers when they turned on lights, answered the phone or did other common tasks. More than half of the participants got the virus on their fingertips 48 hours after the mucus was smeared. The Doctor advised frequent hand-washing to avoid spreading germs. This could be the worst news ever if you can not touch the TV remote for 48 hours, or open the fridge until after sanitizing, it is to grim to think about. As the cold and flu season approaches may we should get a personal fridge for the ice cold beverages and a second remote to hide in my briefcase while at work.
We at Tea512 do not like to talk sports on the blog. We love sports but usually bloggers that talk sports are sound like ballwashers for athletes. We must comment on another black eye to baseball and the inept Commissioner Bud Selig. Last night he knew that the whol east coast was under a green cloud (Doppler radar) and playing a four-hour baseball game was going to be tough. He played on anyway, by there was a light rain but it quickly turned to a downpour. There were times the rain was coming down so hard it looked like snow. During the middle innings, the ground crew tried to get as much water as possible of the field. The home plate umpire used a towel to wipe off the plate instead of a whiskbroom. Footing became a problem and the wind chill dropped into the 30’s. By the fifth inning, there was a pool of water at every base. When Pena hit a ball for a single to Rollins, Upton scored to tie the game at two. The throw stopped as it hit a puddle. Then the game was suspended because of rain. Bud Selig should be ashamed that this could have been the last game of the year. These teams played 162 regular season games, two playoff rounds and then be forced to try to fit this one in is a travesty.
There is only one week until Election Day. We are facing a recession that no one wants to say is happening. The country is facing many problems, banking mess, the housing mess, the war, and energy costs. The problem is not Democrat or Republican it is incumbency. We are declaring at Tea512, if you are as fed up with the politics of the United States as we are here is a plan. November 4, 2008 when you standing in front of the list of politicians running for office. You do not vote for any incumbent. This will send the message that this mess happened under your watch and someone has to pay. Fresh blood to Washington, State and Local politics might be the infusion of change we need. You may have to vote for democrats if you are a republican, or a republican if you are a democrat. We at Tea512 believe they are all responsible and the only way for them to understand how mad we are is someone loses their job.

One of the great things about eBay from the jump was the feedback system. As a buyer you could tell people that the DVD you bought was a copy from China, The shipping took forever, the listing was not what it said, and you got ripped off stay away. This policing of the sellers was a away to keep them honest. When buying something, if the deal looked to good to be true, just check the feedback. Some people begin to leave negative feedback because they were able to. eBay was getting emails to remove feedback, change feedback, and be the go between. So the system worked but they changed it because of this problem. Now you cannot leave negative feedback for a buyer as a seller. As a buyer you can leave negative feedback to a power seller only after seven days. This way the seller can correct the issue. eBay has really changed the rules of the auction service over the last six months. We find this new system to be a change for the worse. Social Network systems are all over the Internet and eBay seems to be moving in the other direction. We think the changes eBay is making are setting themselves up to be pushed out of the market by a rival upstart. There is no one in the neighborhood but rests assure the more they make the site like shopping at the mall the more they are headed for the end.
This week we highlight Stacy Ann Ferguson who was born on March 27, 1975 in Hacienda Heights, California. We know her as Fergie the singer, songwriter, and actress. She blasted on to the scene with the group the Black Eyed Peas, but solidified herself as a solo performer with the release of The Dutchess her first solo release. Her first professional work was the voice of Lucy and Sally in the Peanuts cartoon from 1984-89. She was also on the show Kids Incorporated during the same time span. She joined the Black Eyed Peas before the release of their third album in 2003. Fergie replaced Kim Hill; she has been a big part of the last two Black Eyed Peas records. Fergie then moved back into acting with a role in the remake of The Poseidon Adventure. She sang two songs for the soundtrack as a solo artist. This lead to talks and the 2006 release of The Dutchess her first solo project. The release has had three number one singles as well as five songs in the top five. The release has sold 6.3 million copies worldwide. In 2007, Fergie appeared in the movie Grindhouse and has a role in the movie/musical Nine right now in production, slated for release in 2009. She has won MTV Video Music, Teen Choice Award, American Music Award, and has been nominated for a Juno Award, Grammy Award and a People Choice Award. We at Tea512 though the best parts of Black Eye Peas song were always the Fergie parts. Here CD release was played around the office for most of 2007. We look forward to her work again with the Peas as well as more solo material. She is extremely hot and has her own style. We love to watch her perform, and act on the big screen. We think Fergie is only beginning to show her potential as there is years of great entertainment ahead.

The fallout from the car grab Jay Leno and his partners implemented has had a deadly consequence. Fifty-five year old Dennis Ricca also named in the suit committed suicide with a registered 9mm hand gun. The two cars in question were owned by John W. Straus an heir from the Macy family for decades. He kept the 1931 Duesenberg Model J valued at $1.2 million and a 1930 Rolls-Royce Phantom convertible valued at $500,000, at Windsor Garage. This is owned by Garage Management Corp, which Ricci was employed as director of maintenance. Straus is now in his 80’s and suffers from dementia. He sent a check to the company when it was found his past due balance was $20,000. The company applied the money to another couple of cars they were holding and took possession of the two expensive cars. The garage then held an auction for the cars, winning both cars using a parent company. Then that company sold the Duesenberg to Jay Leno for $180,000. There is a report that Leno had been after the car for years. The shooting happened three days after the Manhattan Supreme Court filing said Ricca, other execs at Garage Management Corp., their affiliates and Jay Leno all knowingly participated in certain unlawful purported auctions and sales of the two cars. There is something going on deeper here, either Ricca could not deal with the shame about what was going to come out about swindling the old man. There is another theory that maybe this was not a suicide but a planned hit to keep a whistle blower quiet. Even though this happened more than 3 years ago we feel the surface is only scratched about what we are going to find out. How about buying a car with a value of 1.2 mllion for 180,000.
