Zardari get on board, or get out of the way

Today a report from Islambad, Pakistan from their new President Asif Ali Zardari, claiming his nation will not tolerate a violation of their sovereignty by any power (insert US here) in the name of fighting terrorism. Zardari, is the widow of slain ex-Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, he made the comments Saturday in a speech to a joint session of Parliament. President Asif Ali Zardari leads the main ruling party and was elected president earlier this month. Up until this statement he has been considered pro-American and has warned that battling terrorism is Pakistan’s chief challenge. We at tea512 believe that if this was true he would step out of the way and let the American forces roam through the baron mountainous region to find suspected targets. This could lead to joint venture of strikes on these targets. We would not suggest American troops could run through the countryside causing destruction at will without the involvement of the Pakistani government. These statements made by the president maybe what got him elected. They maybe what his country wants to hear, but if terrorism is to be rooted out it needs to be disrupted. There is no way to find every wacko no matter where they hide. You must be proactive in the appearance of the hunt and search, giving the threat the terrorists can never feel safe. Pakistan has nuclear weapons and so does Israel we are the only thing keeping the two apart. Zardari had better get in step or Pakistan will find themselves considered a state that is harboring terrorists and that is not a place you want to be just ask Saddam Hussein, oh yea you cant.

Bike was worth how much?

In White Plains, New York, kudos is going out to a 13-year-old boy from Westchester County who led the police to a 17-year-old bicycle bandit. The bike was stolen outside a deli while the owner was inside. The 13-year old searched the Internet for the bike over the next couple of days where it appeared on eBay. He gave the information to the police for them to check out; they set up a meeting to view the bike for purchase. When they determined it was the stolen bike, they arrested the 17-year old at his home. No names were released, as everyone involved was a minor. The only reason this story made the crazy Friday story of the week is the bike had a value of $2,275. The 13-year old had a bicycle that is worth more than most people under 25 we know had paid for their car. What kind of car is this kid going to get for his 17 birthday if he gets a $2,275 bicycle? How about if you had a bike worth that much would you leave it unlocked outside a store. It is great he did the legwork to find the bike, it was pretty clear the police were not going to. Hopefully he learned a lesson that he is receiving nice stuff other people will want and in the future take better care of it.

Lindsay Lohan thanks but No Thanks

Well we here at Tea512 have not been a big fan of Obama, but then came news that he denied Lindsay Lohan the chance publicly support him. This was a great move by Obama as this girl is no spokesperson for anything, there can be no one looking up to her as a role model anymore.  Her troubles have been well documented, her negitive blogging about Sarah Palin is a joke. We at Tea512 have been consistent in our distain when Hollywood tries to use their celebrity to pretend that they care about issues. We say issues of course we mean the ones that affect the everyday people not the polar caps, or eating meat. My favorite thing the Obama camp said was Lohan is not the kind of high profile star (but Paris Hilton was) that would be a positive for the campaign. So LiLo can go back to her Beverly Hills mansion built on Disney cash. She can snort a couple lines of cocaine, then chase it with a couple of shots of tequila, put on her ultra mini skirt, a tank top with no bra, get on her Myspace and write all the lame ass thing she wants. But when she goes to bed at night and lies next to her lesbian lover waiting for the big California only sanctioned marriage, she will deep down in her cigarette filled, martini soaked, ecstasy ridden heart that she may support Obama, but they are happy she is doing it miles away from him. Hey Lindsay don’t go away mad just go away.

Please be my Friend

What is the hang up with the electronic community? Every social networking place you join there is this massive push to pretend to have friends. Have we really reached the day when an actual face-to-face friend means less then a MySpace Friend? Is it important to be an add to a Facebook member. How about if you are someone’s friend in MySpace but he or she has not made you a top five friend, if you are not in that persons top five, they cannot be in yours. For the most part the people you are adding are people you know, or care about like a band, or a movie star. Let us take the conversation to the next level. You sign up for a website like SocailSpark, Pijoo, Zimbio, and even Twitter and people you do not know immediately want you to be there friend. If you add my blog, I will add yours. Then they run around saying I have 100 blog readers in Pijoo, or 2,000 MySpace friends, 1700 Facebook Adds, 100 props on SocialSpark with over 500 friends. It seems a bit shallow as we move forward in the digital age to waste time and energy making fake friends. Another place you see this stuff, is when you go to the boards or list servs and see people carrying on one-sentence conversations like they are best friends. Looking back at the whole process is seems a little silly. We are probably being just a little too cynical at this stage of life. We are on the east coast of the US, you are on the SE part of Asia we have only a wire holding our fake friendship together and both parties can step away at anytime, leaving the other to only wonder why. So update your MySpace, your Facebook and you Social Spark because when you die the virtual funeral home can be filled with your virtual friends and then you will know how many friends you really have.

Obama is just like one of us

Barack Obama is planning a huge big-money fundraiser in Hollywood on Tuesday night. It is set to be a two-part evening that includes a reception and dinner for only $28,500 a person. Then there is a performance, at a later event featuring Barbara Streisand at $2,500 a ticket. This is Obama shaking hands with the little people; you know the ones that can afford $28,500 for a piece of rubber chicken. Obama will by flying into LA for the big show where Barbara Streisand who was a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton will sing. This country has seen thousands of people lose their jobs this week as the banking system is showing major cracks in the system. The stock market has lost more ground and these people want to get together and sing “People” around the campfire. This is just the kind of out of touch pretending that goes on, how can anyone who can pay $30,000 for one night understand what the middleclass needs or is going through. This is the big joke of the Democratic Party as they claim to be for the little man. We at tea512 are not naive we understand McCain will do the same thing next week. The difference is the GOP never acts as if they are the little people.

Napster is truly legit

Best Buy had a very poor December calling it the weakest holiday season in five years. In January, after retail spending hit a 16 year low they dropped their share forecast. By February, they said they were still on track to open 25 new stores in China. In March, we heard you could walk into a Best Buy and if the marked price was 1000.00 you say I will give 950.00 right now, they might accept the offer. Is any of this sound like a company that should buying things? Then today we find it is getting set to purchase Napster Inc. for about $127 million. The idea is to help their increase their digital media capabilities. The takeover will not be complete until sometime in the fourth quarter and includes all 700,000 Napster subscribers, the Web-based customer-service platform, and mobile capabilities. The CEO of Napster Chris Gorog and other senior management will stay on board and the company headquarters will stay in Los Angeles. Best Buy Co., Inc. is a specialty retailer of consumer electronics, home office products, entertainment software, appliances, and related services. The company affiliates and products include the owning the companies Five Star, Future Shop, Geek Squad, Magnolia Audio Video, Pacific Sales Kitchen and Bath Centers, Speakeasy and now Napster. The problem here is Napster was the evil enemy of the RIAA for so long, now we see them accepted into the mainstream retail chain as if the music industry never had tried to and succeeded at killing the original incarnation. It is not that Napster sold out, which they did, it is that originally Napster was a sign of how free and cool the Internet could be. Today it is just another example of how in a capitalistic system eventually everything turns into a commercial.

Jessica Alba – Fantastic

jessica_alba1.jpg

This week we highlight film and television actress Jessica Alba who was born April 28, 1981. She grew up in Pomona, California where she became a certified scuba-driver. She made her first appearance at age 13 an became an overnight sensation with her role in Dark Angel. Tea512 voted that our favorite Jessica Alba movies are Sin City, Into the Blue and the Fantastic Four series. She is always a member of the Maxim Hot 100, but as for awards nothing other than a teen choice award, she was nominated for a Golden Globe. In 1999 she beat out 1200 other people for the role of Max Guevara on Dark Angel. She has hosted the MTV movie awards and Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’s, Science and Technical Awards. She is in the sequel of Sin City, which should be in theatres in 2010. She has just gotten married and given birth. She is spending time adjusting to her new life. We love her as a wholesome girl next door with beautiful eyes. We at Tea512 wish Jessica Alba continued success and will a wait any chance of seeing her on the big screen.

Taylor Swift is a Performer

The Tea512 gang went to see Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift at the Comcast Center last night. It had been a while since we were out and we really whopped it up. The show was fun, the weather held out, and the seats were great. The night went off without a hitch minus the 8.00 beers and 7.00 Fried Dough. The reason we even talk about it this morning is we are not sure how many of our readers know or like Taylor Swift. She is an 18 year old country singer that has crossed over to the pop charts. She stormed out on the stage and performed hit song after hit song like a jukebox. She is a great singer live, she is a beautiful girl, and she tells stories from the heart. You had to leave last night thinking she is going to be around a long time. She writes her own songs, one of the numbers she said she wrote in ninth grade. She played an acoustic guitar, electric guitar and did a rent style drumming on trash cans. She wore a shimmering silver mini dress with high black cowboy boots. She is only 18, she is the full package and an impressive live performer. There seems to be nothing this girl can not accomplish as her career has only just begun. We were all impressed and look forward to watching her career as she seems to be the real deal.

Google whips out the Wallet Again

Stop me if you heard any of this before the behemoth that is Google has gone shopping again. This time they moved into Asia where they have swallowed up the South Korean blogging software company Tatter (TNC). This is obviously the search giants continue to attempt to have a little of their branding on the Internet in every corner of the world. This will be a new distribution channels for its ads outside the search engine. This is a win-win for Google and Korea as right now most of the Internet is used through portals limiting the options for web surfers. This will open the web in Korea to be a freer wheeling style. The move will help Google’s ability to improve it hunting and fusing blog content, which will lead to better tailored advertising we do not know any details on the sale. The cost was not disclosed or how the operation will change. We know that both Google and Tatter have confirmed that it did happen.

You thought losing your car keys is bad

In a little town called Elkhard, Indiana about 160 miles north of Indianapolis and 15 miles east of South Bend. They buried a time capsule in 1958. At least they think so, they wanted to open the time capsule on the 50-year anniversary view items and add more from 2008. The city has a population of over 52,000 people. This was voted on and sounded like a great idea. There are on the hunt to find any information as there is no record in the committee meeting minutes from 1958. They have asked older town members as well as any one with information about it from that era. They thought it was in the park but that time capsule was for the country bicentennial in 1976. Only one resident even remembers which has turned up another problem as they thought it was buried in the center of town. The problem they just spent money to replace all the sidewalks and tearing them up on a wild goose search is not going to happen. The city will still move ahead with the plan to create a new one for 2008 and make sure it is in the city council records, so in 2058 they can actually find where it is.
